The spanish language is really starting to relate to todays world in everything.. im not sure if all that makes sense but.. life as we know it is starting to be influenced by other nations.. do you think that it is mandatory or neccesary to learn foreign languages in school? why..?

It makes sense in Canada for English-speaking students to learn French, because it's the other official language of Canada. It's mandatory up to eighth grade, and onwards you can choose to take a language or not (depends on whether or not you want to get into college). Even though it makes sense, I don't really think that French should be mandatory. It's not like ALL of us are going to stay in Canada and work in Montreal. In fact, I laugh at the notion.
I think that it's a good idea to make some sort of language mandatory throughout elementary and high school. However, this shouldn't be restricted to just one language, because students can have different career choices. If the student is forced to take one specific language, the skill could become trash if it's not used in a right environment. My point is, the more languages you know can equal to more success in your career. Schools shouldn't restrict students to just one language, because it could become worthless. |
