i have a hispasian or mexikorean friend whatever you wanna call her and she seems to be more proud of here korean or asian side than her mexican side. now not that i think that she should be ashamed of it or anything but it bugs me a little. why is she so proud of he korean/asian but hardly ever mentions her hispanic/mexican side. she's all "asian pride" but good luck getting her to say "hispanc pride" or anything like that lol. do you have any friends like this?

... Not really. I'm half Vietnamese and half Cantonese (Chinese), but I'm more proud of my Cantonese heritage than my Vietnamese one. It's my choice to do so because I wasn't exposed to much of my Chinese culture when I was younger. Plus, not being able to understand/speak/read/write in chinese really bothered me.
Maybe your friend feels that way too? Maybe not. Why should it matter to you? If she disrespects her hispanic heritage and it offended you, then you should talk to her about it. |
