I'm down with torture and brainwashing. Ever read 1984? Nonetheless, I'm sure if you hung a man by his ankles and soaked him with water only to give him a shock from a car battery every ten seconds, he'd straighten up. Chinese drip torture will work too if the person isn't driven insane.

In the movie (and book) 'A Clockwork Orange' the main character's mind and health was tampered with because he was given a syrum that caused him to become ill everytime he saw violent or crude and sexual images.

Here's a thought, bring the soldiers home. Put criminals through bootcamp, flood their minds with I-Love-Uncle-Sam military propoganda, and then send 'em to fight the war. Problem solved. Too bad this idea has been pitched by the imperialists already. Nevermind, that goes into another debate.

I think the idea of putting criminals through the terror, exceptional, noble (but not always willingly) citizens volunteer (fighting in war) for, is a great idea. Try to reinforce that one. I would like more info on this idea being neglected by the imperialist (start another debate topic maybe) when you're back "Consolation and Respect towards your grandfather)

But another point is that "Jail" is not same around the world, there are different forms of punshiment endured within the cells vary from one place to another. You have to take that into consideration...
