i was wondering about this topic, however, i am kinda neutral about shark fins though.

shark hunting needs to be regulated (it already is, but better) like whales were. If a shark is caught, all of it should be used.
the problem with fin hunting is the same problem that happened with tusk hunting and elephants. however; regulation will not help that much, cultural changes are needed. many far-eastern cultures eat shark fin soup; however, there are ads in these nations trying to curtail the consumtion of shark-fin. the reason why sharks cannot be over-hunted is becasue they are an integral part of the food chain. if an overhunting were allowed, it would be akin to removing the wolves from yellowstone. |
