The day I hold my son and cry gently as he takes his first breaths of air is a day years beyond my expectation. However, that day is the day when the burden of my sould will finally be lifted and I can be the father that I never had. When the time comes, I'll buy him a hoop and put it together improperly so he can laugh at my wrongdoings and we can assemble it the right way; together. As he gets older, I'll teach him how to throw a perfect spiral and explain to him how a most peculiar game of inconsistent movement, violent contact and ingenius strategies will teach him how to be a leader. With that, my son and I will sit down and play a game of chess so he'll always know the enxt move in life to make. Instead of forcing him to read and write at his own leisure, I'll build him a bookcase full of literary classics as well as books by authors such as Langston Hughes to remind him of the struggle. He'll have access to a computer as well as access to all genres of music so his musical tastes aren't limited to that of his stereotyped culture. But most of all, the day I hold my son and cry gently as he takes his first breaths of air is the day when he'll become my world.

I like how you wrap up your feelings at the end and how well the lines flow with the begining. I'd like to see more of your writing. Good Job.

QUOTE(trail_of_memories @ Mar 24 2005, 1:21 PM) I like how you wrap up your feelings at the end and how well the lines flow with the begining. I'd like to see more of your writing. Good Job. Thanks. In light of these troubling times in which I live, I have to write to maintain my sanity. I'll post more but I'm still a bit apprehensive about sharing what I hold so dear. |
