In Social Studies last month (last month I know..haha) my teacher was talking about segregation and it got me thinking:
Segregation is everwhere. At school, in public, at the movies, etc. If you think about it, you can come up with a lot of places where segregation occurs. At school, for instance, segregation takes place when someone says or acts against a younger student or grade level...'Those stupid 6th graders.' ..'Gosh..freshmans are so stupid and immature'..'Why are you talking to a nerd?' Stuff like that..take a moment and think about it. Think about your school, work, your environment. Basically, all I'm saying is, segregation is everywhere. Sure, some people segregate themselves from others, etc. but they do it without realizing it. If someone says anything rude to you due to your position in school, or anything-anyplace, don't let it put you down. Segregation occurs intentionally sometimes. People only put you down on certain things because of your position because that's how they were raised or that's what they've been taught. Don't judge them and say they're ignorant or anything. Segregation can be used in various ways, just not in rude ways you know. Er..yeah..I got that from one of my friends. I wasn't sure if it made any sense so I decided to post it and ask you guys if it did. Also..it should've been more about segregation at school..like how people talk badly about younger students and grade levels and yada yada but it's somewhat related to it..if you pay attention to it..I guess..I don't know...lol..I just saw it more as everyday life but oh well. So does it make sense? Heheh...thanks! |

QUOTE Segregation goes far beyond race. High school is the perfect example of segregation and the alienation of social groups for whatever reason. Just think about the common stereotypes; jock, goth, emo, prep, thug, etc. Hell, it's even here in this forum because people feel the urge to classify others. I, honestly, don't see the point, and maybe its because I've gotten the short end of the stick in many situations, but the more any time of segregation occurs, the more we digress as a society. P.S., muthas... My 2 cents are better than 50! (The Massacre was a waste of production) Wow. I second that! lol.. Yeah..at my school people have their own cliques and I just wanted to know..when some of you say that it's mostly on white people..do you mean like..a certain type of race can wear these kind of clothes and so can that one but the white people can't? Like that? Cuz that's what I'm thinking..or would that be considered prejudice instead of segregation? Like..oh..he dances like a white boy. Gah..it's so confusing! |
