It's been 4 months since my ex bf broke it off with me...and we haven't had any contact with each other since then.
But...yesterday being my birthday, he messaged me and said happy birthday to me...does this mean anything? Added to the fact that I didn't expect him to remember my birthday, least of all say Happy Birthday to me. Does it mean that he still wants to be friends with me...or does it just mean that he was being nice? (Note: when he broke up with me, he did say that maybe we can be friends one day...) Or am I thinking too much on this? Any opinions greatly appreciated.

Uhmm.. I think it means, he's telling you Happy Birthday.
 Y'all aren't together anymore, and haven't been for four months. If you want him back, don't come running back to him after he's told you happy birthday. I mean, if he didn't say happy birthday, then you'd probably be going like, "I didn't expect him to tell me happy birthday.. but i mean he could've AT LEAST showed that he cared!
