Okay, I didn't know this before but I recently found out that almost all of my friends put on mud masks (or whatever you call them) regularly. well, as it so happened, about a week after I found that out, it was Christmas day, and my friend bought me some mud masks. I tried one, did it by all the directions, and waited like 15 minutes (my face was freezing cold with the mask on, it wasn't exactly pleasant...) and then I washed off the mask. First of all, I had no idea how I should wash it off, with a cloth, putting my face under the sink, or in the shower. I decided on the latter. which turned out not to be a great idea. as soon as I started washing my face off in the shower I got it all in my eyes (my fault I admit) and they stung like hell...right, so then I quickly got out of the shower and blinked rapidly, and than decided to finish washing it off with a cloth. So, I got the cloth wet and wiped it all off my face…which took a long time, it was determined to be stuck there forever. so anyway, after about 15 minutes of repeatedly rubbing and washing, my face was finally clean...but not with the effect I had imagined. It was all red and ugly and it hurt when I touched it sad.gif

So my question is, to all you girls out there, why on earth do you use these things?!? and what, if anything, did I do wrong?

You shouldn't have washed your face like that; it would've been more appropriate to have used a washcloth to remove the mask.

Also, check the packaging of the mask provided to you; it states what it does to your skin exactly. Normally, with exfoliating masks, it'll cause irritation such as you have described, or it could've been that you are allergic to it, or you have sensitive skin which was irritated by the mask.

Masks like that will make your face feel cold, depending on what kind it was. There are some that "self-heat" and others that feel like it's going to cause a dryice burn on your face.

I love masks because they leave my skin feeling refreshed.
I also love applying the stuff to my face, and peeling it off (one type of mask I get is a peel off kind).

I'll try to find the brand I use; you can find it at K-Mart for like $1.95
