Everything else? There was only ONE thing I could agree with and that would be the deficit problem.
As for being paranoid about terrorism... isn't that a given? Racism IS NOT encouraged by the war, discrimination is encouraged by the 9/11 attack. The two events, though related, are different. But what made me laugh my buttocks off was his/her statement that it completely killed US economy. |

QUOTE(f4113n @ Feb 28 2005, 8:32 PM) of course it killed the economy! how the hell do you keep the economy alive when you've got a war you're waging that costs a couple million a day? What the eff are you talking about? Go take an economics course then post. If you hadn't noticed genius, the economy is fine. Go pick up the latest Wall Street Journal and eat your words. |

QUOTE(f4113n @ Mar 1 2005, 2:40 PM) And there is no doubt that China will eventually become the world top emitter of polution, but I digress. Tell me, why do you make it sound like this would be a bad thing? If you have a trade partner, wouldn't you want your partner to be a competent trader? QUOTE millions have lost their jobs, Millions? Jobs are destroyed and created; that is how the economy works. And if you do not believe when I say that the jobless rate declined since January and that there is job growth in service sectors and job decline in manufacturing industries, feel free to go to the Bureau of Labor Statistics and find out. Okay? There is a sort of balance in employment right now and many people and economists predict that more jobs in the service industries is actually a good thing in the long run. QUOTE and many forms of currency are (or are about to) surpass the dollar *cough euro cough* The decline of the dollar is a strategy to increase US exports. Whether or not it's working... I've yet to research (but I doubt it helps much). The European and Japanese central banks had tried to defend the dollar, but it is in for a time of weakness and the problem stems from our huge deficit and trade accounts. However, currency markets believe that so long as US exports rise with the help of a lower value dollar, and imports fall, things will mend. We need to wait for the results. But no, the US economy has not "completely" died or is anywhere near dying as of now. And THAT is my point. |

And THAT is my point. you take my words too literally. i dont mean that we're on the verge of another great depression or anything, i just said that since bush took office, the economy has been doing a lot worse than it did under clinton |
