people are so cliquey
and the cliques are just so picky
goth, punk, poseur, prep
the teenage heart lacks certain depth
in the media today
deception is at play
it's nothing but a game
to get the greedy fame
the ones who are most coy
view the human mind a toy
bending, shaping, molding
their claws forever holding
the popular thrive
while the others struggle to survive
always having to fight
for fifteen minutes in the light
thanks to a popular thief
that time is much more brief
reaching for hope
falling on a downward slope
there's black and white
and white and black
but somewhere in-between
in-between there's a gray
as gray as any day
in-between there is me
just as gray as i can be
