I've been studying this for Years, and Finally studying has paid off.
The pentacle, from my studies and understandings, is a Pagan or mainly a Wicca, or Witchcraft symbol (yes witches do exsists, just not like those that you see on TV, and in the movies) that symbolizes, when right-side up, Life and gain, and when upside-down, death or banishments. When the pentacle is right-side up, the four bottom points respresent (from my understandings) the four elements, EARTH, FIRE, WATER, and AIR. Now the fifth point (the top point) represents the spirit. The spirit of the Caster. Now Christians dont or didn't adopt the pentacle, I think what your talking about is "The Star Of David"; i think its a Jewish symbol. Now also, when the Pentacle is reversed or upside down, it represents Satanism. BUT, since Wiccans dont believe in Satan, the reversed pentacle cannot represent Satan in the Wicca tradition. Now the whole "Christians, Wiccans and Satans" debate is a whole nother story which is probably in another topic, and i just dont have the time. |
