i've always done gymnastics since i was 5 years old. (i'm 13 now). i do competition and i've devoted my monday, wednesday, thursday, and friday nights and saturday mornings to the sport. i've always been able to work around my schedule but now that i'm in middle school and i'm a teenager, i kind of want more time for homework, and to hang out with friends, and party, and go out on weekends. i still love gymnastics but it just doesn't seem like i'm getting anywhere. i'm also afraid about gaining weight. going from all that practice to maybe only working out once or twice a week is going to be horrible. i need some advice on what i should do.

In a way I kind of know how you feel. I was always involved in dance team in middle school and I have been dancing since I was 3. This year I wanted to try out for the dance team at my school but the team and theatre practice at the same time. Theatre is also one of my passions. Realizing I could only do one, I went with Theatre and could not try out for dance which made me very sad.
At first you'll probably be really sad about having to quit or whatever you choose but eventually you will get used to the change. If you want more time for homework, then choose Study Hall for one of your electives or bring your homework with you to gymnastics and do it in the car or on breaks (if you get any). Hope this helps! :D |
