ok. im like freaking out. my friends bat-mitzvah is soon, and i have NO IDEA what slow dancing is. i feel REALLY dumb.

but yeah. and shes going to hook me up with the guy i like, and make us slowdance, but i dont know what it is//how to do that

i mean, are there steps to it, or is it just dance slowly and have fun?

Yeah, basically what everyone else said. I've always had one question, though. Where do you put your head? Do you stare at him or try to make small talk.....Yup, this is what you need to teach the young'ns.

Watch those movies where people slow dance and follow what they do. But it's really simple, just follow what everyone else said. And about your head, if you are really comfortable with the guy, lean it on his shoulder. But if you're not, just look at him and talk!

Yeah, basically you put your arms around his shoulders/neck area and he's SUPPOSED to put your arms around your hips (my first slow dance, he didn't cause.. well long story) and i just like looked around the room. I didn't really like him, though. But some people like to dance like, hugging sort of way and you just like put your head on his shoulder... did that make sense?

But now a days.. if we are just friends.. you knoe my head is usually lo0king all over the place.. unlesss he's talking to me.. lol

but if it's someone i adore.. I'll try to put my head on there shoulder as long as they want me too.. i don't lyk doing anything..by force.. lo

Ive never danced slow dance neither, so yeah. Just sway...or tell the guy you dont know how to slow dance...and it will be kind of romantic for him to teach you how to. :)

Basically what everyone else said. Your hand on his neck, his on your waist, hips, butt, whatever. You can either look at him or put your head on his shoulder. It really depends on the moment. And you just kinda move back and forth.

Um, it depends on the kind of music. If you want to make a lasting impression, "swaying" to the music is out of the question, trust me on this . Go to your local Y and see if there's ballroom dancing instruction available. Classes are usually less than $15/hour at a Y and you should have an idea after one class. But, if you don't care about impressions and just want to wing it off, then sway away.

Also, if they guy is as clueless as you are about dancing, swaying is okay. You may or may not want to embarrass him by being a better dancer.

ah..the art of slow dancing... haven't done that since 10th grade homecoming. It was very, very nice. so don't sweat it. I miss slow dancing. :(

lol i'll just answer this question like i do when guys ask me how to slow dance..." just hold her close and sway back and forth with the music. There are no right and wrong steps, you barely move from the spot you are in. you just kinda are in a hug, and are swaying to the music. "

put your hands on his shoulders and he'll put his on your waist, then just shift your weight from foot to foot and slightly spin in a circle. its very simple and stupid actually. i wouldnt really call it slow dancing, more like, pivoting in a circle with someone.
