When do you think people should stop having babies? It seems some people don't no any limits... I mean 40 years is just way too late. I will hate to have a Grandmother mother blink.gif .

Heh.. my aunt had her baby when she was around her 40's. I think mid 20's to start and 30's to stop. As long as they can take care of their baby and give them a well education; i don't see why is the problem with having baby at such an old age. ermm.gif

well I personally would love to be a cool young mom [20-25 yrs old] but I think people should stop trying to have kids at the age of 45 because in this day and age people only live till like 70 if their lucky..

I agree, but what most people don't know is that if the mother is too old (or too young), they are more at risk for something wrong to happen with their pregnancy, for their baby to have a birth defect, or for them to have twins, triplets, etc. (and multiples generally have more health problems than normal babies do to start off with). My aunt is 40 and just had a baby boy, her second child. She waited late to get married, so she started her family late too. I'm pretty sure this is going to be her last baby though because she was afraid of health problems with this past baby.

40+ you're pretty much over the hill. yep. if you think about it, anything after that, you'll be 60ish when they're 18. way too old.

Late 30, early 40's ....After you hit menopause you obviously can't have kids, but even before that, as you get older, your kid is at higher risk of having genetic diseases and stuff because of how the eggs are preserved in the ovaries.

My mom started having kids when she was on her twenties.

So, i would say, between age 27 to 30's.

No older than the age of 40. There's the risk of something going wrong with the child/birth.

mid-thirties. Coz after that, the baby is more likely to have down syndrome.
That's what my mum said what her doctor told her.

After you hit 40 I think the woman should give up on having kids. Adopting would be better.

stop when u get tired of being in labor. but if u still want kids, adopt some. lots and lots of parentless kids live in poorly cared for orphanages with sometimes unloving caretakers

Well I think it depends on the person, and not the age. Well, if the person is like in their sixties...that's not fair to the child. If the person is 40, but acts 30, then fine! But if you're in your late 40s and you feel old, I don't think it's a good idea for the baby. Besides, when you get older, you get tired and you want to relax...having another baby will not help that, and you'll probably have a lousy retirement. Also, you want to live long for your child...when your kid grows up and is in their 20s, you shouldn't be saying "I'm living on borrowed time" because that's not fair to the kid. I personally want to have two babies before I reach 30; granted I get married around 24. ^_^

I agree that you should weigh down the possibility of your child having down syndrome. So 40's I guess. If everything was great then I guess I'd still go with 45 max. I dont know I have read about a woman having I think twins in her 60's! That's mad! But I guess if u have the money and arrange something before hand then it would be okay.

Umm, I am pretty sure most of my peers' grandparents are in their 70s and what. My parents are 50ish. People are living longer and having kids later.

not really, if you're 35+ (i believe) years old then your baby is at a higher risk for developing down syndrome and other types of disorderse.

Actually, once a woman reaches age twenty, the likelihood of birth defects become greater. As one gets older, the spindle fibers that take DNA apart during meiosis get thinner and thinner, so there's more chance of a birth defect.

So I'd say around age 40.

(Woot for science class, haha.)
