yup.

you know the rumors and cliques of middle school? they're a lot worse in high school. things don't just rub off, they stick to you forever. if someone says that you slept with someone, you will always be known as the slut...unless you're a guy because of the double standard that makes you cool.

i think the most important tip is to choose your friends wisely. you'll never know if they'll turn on you or who's leaking your dirty laundry.

by the way...be careful of the boys. they can can destroy your high school reputation...and jealous girls.

Actually in my school that's different. Everyone in high school is friends with everyone because in middle school they're too immature and they think having a clique makes them cool... there's more fights and slut calling in middle school

Hmm, that doesn't exactly happen at my school. There aren't exactly cliques nor does my school care about rumors (unless it's about school and grades and bleh).
But I suggest don't slack off because your grades from freshman year do count. And, don't be afraid to make new friends. Don't worry too much and have some fun; it's supposed to be the easiest year of high school anyways.

wow...its been a long time since i was a freshman, now i'm a senior! yay! okay here's my tips on surviving highschool:
*Make lots of friends early on! i started to really have a huge group of friends like junior year, and it sux that i'm finally comming out of my shell now.
*act your age. meaning give seniors the right of passage, don't try to act cool and over pass the uperclassmen...that won't be tolerated. your day will come, so know your place (sounds mean, but its true)
*go to dances, pep rallys, and sports events. be social.
*go to parties. have fun, but SAFE fun.
*dress appropriately. i've noticed that the younger ones are always the ones who wear the LEAST amount of clothing.
*do your homework and work hard in your classes. it'll pay off when applying to colleges, trust me
*lastly...HAVE A BLAST!!! highschool is gonna be the ride of your life....IF YOU MAKE IT THAT WAY!

Try to be nice and make friends, but just remember that not everyone is nice. Try to keep in touch with some of the people from ur old school as well.

I was pretty hyped up about the thought of highschool, mostly cuz of the friends I would eventually make lol. But it turns out that I barely hang out with anyone from my school cuz I mostly hang out with my friends from elementary. I like all of the friends that I've made though. happy.gif

I'm going into gr.10, so I have recently experienced my first year, here's my advice:
-Grade nine is full of changes, don't be surprised if at the end of the year you have a whole new group of friends, but never be a bitch to your old friends, they helped you to grow up, and they made you who you are, make sure you hang out with them sometimes (unless of course you ditched them because they are bad influences stubborn.gif )
-Do your schoolwork to the best of your abilities, you may think grade 9 doesn't matter, but it does! What you don't do now will come back and bite you in the a$$ later.
-Join teams or clubs, you will meet so many new people that share your interests, and you will make tons of new friends, and if you are shy, teams/clubs should help you to come out of your shell (it helped me, my shell is GONE with the wind happy.gif )
-Don't be afraid to sit at tables away from your elementary (or middle school, I don't know, I don't have middle school where I live) friends at lunch, they want to make new friends just as much as you.
-Talk to people, don't be shy, if they are mean to you, well then it's their loss, don't lose sleep over it (not really in my own experienes, but there are bullies or peole that think they are better than the world, ignore them)
-Whatever you do, do NOT become one of those people who think they are better than the world, everyone hates them, they are universally known as bitches, you would be surprised how fast things travel ermm.gif
-Go to dances, and don't be a wall flower, they may be a bit more uhm...slutty than middle school dances, but they are fun, so get you a$$ in there and dance dammit! (P.S. don't make out with anyone at the dances if you are going to regret it, everyone will know by lunch the next day guaranteed, and you are a slut for life if people here more than one name)
-Lend money to people at lunch if they ask for it, someday you will need money as well, and is it's les than 5$, forget about it, you won;t get payed back
-Don't let people use you
-Avoid the druggies, you can get sucked in easily
-Go to parties, just don;t do anything stupid
-(for girls) Don't act like a stupid boy crazy little freak, talk to guys as normally as you would talk to girls, if you giggle and act all weird and crap like that, it is likely you will be labelled as annoying..and you will be avoided by any normal guys ermm.gif
-Most of all, have fun! High school is the last of your required education, next you will be moving across the country to go to school, away from all of the people you grew up with, enjoy your last few years at home, in your town, you'll miss it when you're gone!

You don't have to do all that in 9th grade, you can still do them now (depending on what grade you're going into), it's just easier for incoming freshmen.

for me, it was a whole new change because i moved at the end of 8th grade. but people don't just... change entirely... after they get into high school. you'll probably still keep your same friends [at least for a while] and all in all, classes aren't too bad. freshman year is pretty cool and teachers are usually nice and upperclassmen don't really pick on you all that much.

Don't listen in class, throw spit balls at other people, disrespect your teachers and school, graffiti, bring weapons, cellphones and CD players into class, rip up your textbooks, destroy the school with a sledge hammer, fail all your tests and have fun.

Be good. _smile.gif

1. Know your place. Freshmen = Freshmeat, if you're not careful.

2. Don't act like your hot shit, people will give you crap for doing so.

3. Try not to block the hallways especially busy ones. People have places to go.

4. Make sure your stuff stays within a 5 in" radius of your locker. Chances are it will get kicked around if it strays.

5. Bring clothes to gym. You don't wanna end up wearing stuff from the Lost & Found bin. Nasty.

6. Attend football games and dances. Join clubs and groups. You'll meet lots of people that way, people who have the same interests as you and vary in grades.

7. If your cafeteria food is anything like mine, you're better off bringing something from home.

8. Peer pressure's a bitch. It only gets worse in high school. Don't do things cause other people are doing it (drinking, smoking, etc.). You won't look cool. People won't like you. It's dumb.

9. Keep in touch with your friends. Seriously, you might end up regretting the fact that you've lost touch with them in high school.

10. Have fun. wink.gif

Tips.

-Don't wear a skirt on the first day of school or you'll be considered a slut
-Don't get a roller book bag or a big book bag (people will get annoyed of you)
-Don't listen to things third hand (Somtimes its true but most likely not)
-Only spend so much time socializing in the hallways (Teachers get annoyed)
-Try to stay on your level with boys & befriend the girls on higher grades
-Talk & socialize & go to football/basketball/ games & track meets
-Keep one close friend that you can tell everything too & make the rest of them people you talk to daily stuff about
-Carry a lock in your gym bag so no one will steal your money when you go outside for gym
-Make alotta friends so when you have classes that your good friends are in you'll at least have someone
-Don't spread rumors about people or get involved in drama

The Golden Tip Of All

-Is to relax & enjoy high school (These 4 years you will never be able to relive again)
