i think its probably just a rumor, if they had scientifically proven that anti-persperant gave you cancer they'd put a warning on it. but who knows, there could be research going on and someone just took it to the extreme of saying it gives you cancer

well i got one like that, and it's aluminum something something, which is what blocks the sweat. i don't think it can give you cancer or else the government would ban it -_-; for now its just one of those stupid rumors.

QUOTE BREAST CANCER PREVENTION Not just for women — men don't forget to tell mom, cousins, etc. Deodorants (non-antiperspirants) are very hard to find but there are a few out there. I just got information from a health seminar that I would like to share. The leading cause of breast cancer is the use of anti-perspirant. What? Yes ANTI-PERSPIRANT. Most of the products out there are an anti-perspirant/deodorant combination so go home and check your labels. Deodorant is fine, anti-perspirant is not. Here's why: The human body has a few areas that it uses to purge toxins; behind the knees, behind the ears, groin area, and armpits. The toxins are purged in the form of perspiration. Anti-perspirant, as the name clearly indicates, prevents you from perspiring, thereby inhibiting the body from purging toxins from below the armpits. These toxins do not just magically disappear. Instead, the body deposits them in the lymph nodes below the arms since it cannot sweat them out. This causes a high concentration of toxins and leads to cell mutations: a.k.a. CANCER. Nearly all breast cancer tumors occur in the upper outside quadrant of the breast area. This is precisely where the lymph nodes are located. http://www.snopes.com/toxins/breast.htm |

QUOTE(AkaRyux @ Aug 6 2005, 8:20 AM) but the rest of your body sweats so it can't really hold in too many toxins to make a big deal i have secret platinum, it's 19% of Aluminum Zirconium Trichlorohydrex Gly and under the warning part it just says QUOTE For external use only. -------------------------------------------- Do not use on broken skin. -------------------------------------------- Ask a doctor before use if you have kidney disease. -------------------------------------------- Stop use if rash or irritaion occurs -------------------------------------------- Keep out of reach of children. In case of ingestion, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away. |

I think all this so called cancer causing stuff is silly. Only because every once in awhile someone finds something new that causes cancer.
but millions maybe even billions (from other countries) of women use anti-perspirant. how come not all women develop cancer? some in fact are completely healthy. |

thats kind of scary.. but what about when you dont sweat? wouldnt the toxins just stay in you anyway? hm idk. it could be true but i highly doubt it. if it were that big a risk it would be more well known.

Your body produces the toxins when you sweat, I believe and if an anti-perspirant is preventing you from discharging them, they will deposit into your body and deform the cells. |

QUOTE(hosing @ Aug 7 2005, 3:57 PM) if it dosnt come out through your pores your blood stream will filter most of it in the kidneys which turns into urea. When you urinate you are getting rid of most of the toxins... Your bloodstream has nothing to do with the sweat that comes out of your underarms, so they're not going to filter the toxins out of your sweat. If you can't perspirate, the toxins (trapped beneath your skin) will remain in your body and most likely won't make it from your underarm to your bladder, therefore attaching themsleves to other cells and deforming them. |

hmmm interesting...
QUOTE ...researchers at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) are not aware of any conclusive evidence linking the use of underarm antiperspirants or deodorants and the subsequent development of breast cancer. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration, which regulates food, cosmetics, medicines, and medical devices, also does not have any evidence or research data that ingredients in underarm antiperspirants or deodorants cause cancer. google rocks! source: Antiperspirants/Deodorants and Breast Cancer - National Cancer Institute |

I never said that it filters out the sweat... If it dosent come out one hole itll come out another.... And your underarms is like what 5% of the body... Your whole body sweats... And most anti perspirants last what 12 hours? What are you doing that other 12 hours?

Yeah, I suppose it doesn't matter. There's no solid proof at the time by any reputable resource, so I think we should be cautious, but not paranoid.
