Wellllllllllllllllllll here we go again! It's coming up on NFL season soon and the exhibition games are starting soon. What are are your predictions for this season? Your favorite players? Your views are certain teams this year?

I'm not much of an Oakland fan, but the Raider pass offense is looking pretty hot this year with Jerry Porter and Randy Moss partnered together.

The Steelers are looking pretty good this year as well, adding Heath Miller as a tight end who will probably be starting this year.

It's looking like a great year for football with all the teams flushed with new talent, Mike Williams, Cadillac Williams, Ronnie Brown, Cedric Benson, Braylon Edwards, Heath Miller, Reggie White, JJ Arrington. Man, I can't wait for the season to start.

ah i cannot wait either. im in love with football, and with hockey gone last season it was all i had to keep me going :p. im from right outside of philly.. so of course im a true eagles fan thru and thru. i think our team is really good again this year- hopefully TO and westbrook will wise up and just sign their contracts already. im really excited to see sean andrews play, he was really highly rated last year and then he got injured in a pre-season game. also im excited to see how much teams have changed or stayed the same from last season- which teams will be our biggest competition. SO PSYCHED! biggrin.gif

edit-
oh and definitely superbowl for the eagles again.. this year hopefully with a victory!!!!! biggrin.gif

The Eagles are looking pretty good this season, especially with the signing of Reggie Brown. That WR is lookin hot. But we might well see New England hoisting up the Lombardi again this season, even with their depleted defense.

Oh, this is definately the year for the Eagles! happy.gif

TO had a great season last year, it was a shame he had to injure his ankle late in the season. He had 77 receptions for 1,200 yards and 14 touchdowns before the injury. That's like amazing.. blink.gif

-- I'm also kinda excited to see what the Colts are gonna do this year.
-- I wonder how the Patriots will do this year also.. stubborn.gif Ahh, I can't waittt!

None-the-less, this year should be awesome. thumbsup.gif

*Sigh* The Patriots have now lost both of their starting inside linebackers. That's a damn shame.

Hm, I've never really liked the Browns, but they are by no means the NFL's worst. They are pretty far down there, though. They've recently signed Braylon Edwards to a five-year deal (worth 40million$$$), who was the 2005 draft's most highly rated reciever. He should make an immediate impact if their QB Trent Dilfer (one of my most hated, by the way) can actually connect with him. Their defense isn't great but it isn't bad, more mediocre than average. Their offensive line is alright (it sure beats Miami) and their running backs are average. I think this team will be getting stronger with each passing year, especially since they signed Charlie Frye as a long-term QB project.

wow, someone who is actually knowledgable in football, I look forward to many in depth convos in the sports forum!!

Well, since you seem to know so much, why did the browns get the 3rd draft pick this season? They had the exact same record as Miami, Miami beat them, and Miami beat the super bown champion New England Patriots. Does this not make sense to you? (I'm not bitching, because I'm VERY happy with our draft pick,it's just something that no one has been able to answer so far)

Well, after about an hour of looking up last years Browns and Dolphins statistics, my conclusion is: although Miami beat them, along with New England, Cleveland still seems to have better statistics. I wouldn't be irked about it though, Miami chose Ronnie Brown who as far as I know, still has not signed with them. He probably won't be a starter straight off the bat anyway. Ricky Williams', Miami's premiere Running Back, has also just returned, and although he is suspended from the first 4 regular season games, he should still be in good enough shape to compete for the starting position (even though he rushed for just 8 yards with 4 carries in the Hall of Fame Game against Chicago).

If Trent Dilfer can improve his accuracy and arm strength, with Braylon Edwards as a deep threat, Cleveland should have a relatively improved year. I'd say Cleveland will get around a 7-9 record this year, but like I said previously, this team is just going to keep improving.

And yeah, finally someone who is interested in discussing football (consistently at least)!

yes, he replies quickly! I figured it was something stupid about tiebreakers that would give the browns the edge, it's still dumb, haha.

anyways, I think the Dolphins will be the most improved team of 2005 by far. I fully expect them to be the San Diego Chargers of last year, they have all the weapons except a consistant quarterback, hopefully Brian Griese changed that. Anyways, with Ronnie Brown AND Ricky Williams in the mix when they didn't have ANY running backs last year, plus a healthy and hopefully drug free David Boston, the dolphins have a great shot at a winning record for sure.

That's parity in the NFL for ya, consistant losing seasons is hard to do unless your city name starts with a Cinci or ends in a -nnatti

ill be watching the raiders because LAMONT JORDAN <333 is their running back. how could you not mention him?

and of course, my new york jets will win the superbowl this year. pennington, martin, mccareins, COLES (from redskins), and LAW (from patriots). we shall dominate.

We all love Cadillac...we all do.

I'm not sure about Miami getting a winning record this year, because their offensive line is still...poo. It's probably the worst line in the NFL at the moment and won't give their elite running backs the gaps needed to run their routes. And neither of those running backs have great catching ability. Brown is OK.

Kansas City on the other hand...KC has the best offensive line in the business which gives their Priest Holmes great running lanes to operate with. This is partly the reason Holmes has had such success in his career, since he has a relatively small body, without the excellent line the KC posesses, you would see a far worse record :D.

Has anyone heard of Adrian McPherson? He got drafted by New Orleans and he looks like he'll be an elite QB, but he's still 3rd or 2nd string. Why?! WHY?! stubborn.gif tongue.gif

Well....New season. And the team Im looking forward to see play this year is my Eagles. So close last season. Mission accomplish this season. T.O. and McNabb are gonna have to set their differences aside. One goal only, the Super Bowl. Im not much of a person who goes into detail, so Im just gonna end it here. Go Eagles!

PS. BUT, Im also staying loyal to my city.....so Go Bears! tongue.gif

So, the Patriots stomped the raiders 20/30. It was a game that surprisingly went according to plan. The raiders had an initial spark with them scoring a touchdown on the first drive, but in the end, their pass defense couldn't cope. They made significant improvements in their run defense though, keeping Corey Dillion to something like 70 yards the whole game. more later

I agree, Chargers vs Steelers = game of the week.

Patriots are all banged up and they are most likely going to lose. There defense is shambly and Atlanta has the leagues number 1 rush offense. Over.

Man! The NFL's #1 Offense was stomped by the Cowboys....oh well. The Eagles have a bye week to re-build their offense.

And what would've happened last year if instead of the Eagles winning the NFC Championship and the Falcons would've gone to the SuperBowl and played the Patriots?...Same result as what happened to the Eagles. A f[u]cking field goal deciding the win. As what happened to the Falcons loss of 28 - 31 against the Patriots. Falcons now have two loss. Same as Eagles...it's a bird thing.

I'm a Patriots fan. I hate the Steelers with a passion. Last year, they took Ty Law from us. This year, it's Rodney Harrison. HARRISON! Who is not only my favorite player, but pretty much the heart of our defense. Curse you, Steelers!!!!

And add that to the lost of Bruschi and we have no defense. Our secondary no-name backups are getting hurt... who do we have? Asante Samuel (I've always liked him) is good... but he's not THAT good. He's had sooo many chances for interceptions but he just keeps dropping them. Starks? Scott? Who are they!?

And not only is our defense shot... the left side of our offensive line is composed of two rookies. Matt Light, we need you back!

But seriously, the lost of Bruschi and Harrison is just... :(

And in regards to the Chargers game. Ever heard of running up the score? 41-17? C'mon. I hate teams that do that. Like, the Packers (52-3 and Favre was STILL playing) and Cowboys (30-10 and Bledsoe was STILL playing).

And the Colts? Boooooo. $#!@(! Just wait until they play us. C'mon... y'all know how Peyton Manning gets when he's against the Patriots.

As for tonight, I'll be rooting for the Chargers.

Kansas City VS Miami- Well, I think KC has the upperhand in this match-up. Even with key injuries to Willie Roaf and Gary Stills, I believe that KC's underrated defense should have the upperhand. With guys like Kendrell Bell and Patrick Surtain playing on your defense, it brings the rest right up. Miami's defense isn't living up to it's potential and it's offense is mediocre on a good day. Kansas City's offense is well, Kansas Citys' offense. Verdict: Kansas City

Detroit VS Cleveland - Cleveland first round draft pick Braylon Edwards is back on the lineup this week and should make an impact this game. The only thing Detroit is lacking this season is a capable quarterback. With Joey Harrington in his (possibly) last season with the Lions, be prepared for a shootout. Verdict: Detroit, close win

San Francisco VS Washington- With Alex Smith the new starter for SF, expect a frenzy of turnovers. The kid is good, but it's his first season and he's going against an experienced defense here. Kevan Barlow should perform well again, as he'll be getting a lot of touches when Mike Nolan realizes that Smith isn't up to the task. On Washington's side of the ball, they have a great runner in Clinton Portis and an even better receiver in Santana Moss.
Verdict:Washington

Green Bay VS Minnesota- Green Bay has key injuries across the board. With running back Ahman Green not expected to play, Green Bay will have to win the game on Brett Favre's arm. This will be hard, as Javon Walker - Brett's go to guy- blew out his knee on the first game of the season. Already soft, Green Bay's defense is without Na'il Diggs, an excellent pass rusher. Minnesota is going to have to reluctantly rely on Daunte Culpepper's unsure hands. With their non-existant running game, the Vikings will again have to go to the air, where Culpepper is suddenly unreliable (where's Moss when you need him?). Viking defense should outplay the packers which is my sole reason for choosing: Verdict: Vikings, by a short margin

Pittsburgh VS Cincinatti-

San Diego
Philadelphia

Indianapolis
Houston

New Orleans
St. Louis

Dallas
Seattle

Denver
NY Giants

Baltimore
Chicago

Buffalo
Oakland

Tennessee
Arizona

NY Jets
Atlanta

Edit 10/23/05 damn my busy-ness. Ima try earlier for this week.

It's not that I don't think he's good. Well, actually, I don't think he's good. At least, not when it counts. Tom Brady may be mediocre but you have to admit, he wins it when he needs to. 9-0 in the post-season, take that, Mr. 49-TD-Season-But-None-In-The-Postseason!!!

And I also think he's a P**sy ass whiner. Like, after the AFC championship game against the Patriots (I forget if it was last year or two years ago), he went and complained to the league about some rule or another and had it changed.

I guess it must get to him, to end up looking like some lost child, who happend to stumble into the game, every time he faces the Patriots. You can always see him on the sidelines with his head bowed and shaking. Pssh.

He'll end up just like his dad. Lots of stats, but no rings. Sucker.

If he (and the Colts) actually manage to pull off a win again the Patriots in two weeks, I might give him a little credit. And I say, little meaning the smallest amount because c'mon, our secondary is crap so he'll just attack, attack, attack. And it wouldn't be saying much.

Chicago Bears VS Detroit Lions - The Bears have a monster defense and have only allowed 68 points (second in the league) going into week 8. Detroit also boasts a respectable defense while giving up 100 points thus far. Offensively, Detroit has an advantage with a strong receiving corps headed by Roy Williams. With number one draft pick Mike Williams at receiver #2 (I like this guys potential). Jeff Garcia, coming off a broken leg, is Detroit's starting Quarterback. The former Pro Bowler is coming off of a win, watch out. Chicago's offense is definetly less impressive, with the exception of Muhsin Muhammad. Kyle Orton, their starting quarterback, has a 61 point QB Rating ( i think) and has thrown more Interceptions than TD's this season. The Bears will have to rely on Thomas Jones and Muhammad offensively. Verdict: Detroit, Close win.

Arizona Cardinals VS Dallas Cowboys - The Cardinals O-line may be the most pourous I have seen in the NFL for quite some time. This limits the team's ability to run the ball - the Cardinals average only 71 yards per game rushing, 31st in the league - a severe handicap. This is a shame, as 2nd round draft pick J.J. Arrington would be having a great year nearly anywhere else in the NFL. Passing, the Cardinals are loaded. With Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald in the wings, paired with Arringtons knack for catching the ball, QB Josh McCown has plenty of weapons. Dallas, on the other hand, is a great all-around team. It is neither the best nor the worst in any category. Running back Julius Jones is out again so Marion Barber (a competent backup) will be running the ball. This game should be a shoot-out with Drew Bledsoe firing away at Terry Glen and Keyshawn Johnson.Verdict: Dallas (although I'd like to see Arizona to win)

Oakland Raiders VS Tennessee Titans- Randy Moss played last week, catching a TD pass. He was used tentatively, and he will be used tentatively this week. With Oaklands main offensive distraction injured, the Raiders will be running the ball more with LaMont Jordan. I'm not a fan but he's a competent back who will make some plays. The Raiders offense is dynamite but it's achilles heel is it's defense. Charles Woodson and Derrick Gibson are both out for the game, which is a devastating blow to Oakland's secondary. The backups are really going to have to step it up. Tennesee is definatly going to gameplan around these injuries. Expect Steve McNair to be firing away to Brandon Jones and Tyrone Calico. The Titans are 13th in the league defensively. They are coming from a demoralizing two game lose streak. Verdict: Oakland (but i honestly dono)

Will include more tommorow. Kinda tired.

edit// I nevr got time to finish these damn things. and i dont even like these teams.

umm...philly is bad compared to how they were last year. it's either that their line sucks major ass, or mcnabb is losing his spark.

Or perhaps he's injured and they have no running game (which plays into your line suckage point).

Man...seriously, Im tired of hearing T.O. this, T.O. that. Let the man be. Me being an Eagles AND a T.O. fan, I know T.O. has basically turned down Philly, but oh well, they can move on! Remember, they went to the NFC Championship FOUR times W/Out him! But, I think T.O. should stay with Philly and Philly should stay with T.O.. If only they could set their differences aside...if ONLY they could do that...besides the injuries, they would be an incredible team. They should be focusing on that defense right now...not the offense!!! And on this important game coming up Sunday against the Redskins. I support Philly and T.O. no matter what though. E-A-G-L-E-S!

/Edit

And now they gave T.O. a T.O... pinch.gif Maybe it's what he needs to think about all the "idiotic" things he says. I really want Philly to work-out with T.O.. I think they make REALLY good team when they ALL get along.

/Edit

Man...How can the Bears have a better record than the Eagles? Crazy... pinch.gif

/Edit

Good News or Bad News?
The Philadelphia Eagles decided to suspend T.O. for the remainder of the season and will most likely be traded or released next season. I really didnt like the decision by Philly, but maybe it's what they need. It sucks that T.O. is leaving....really, it does. A player of that type of caliber hurts to leave...Hmm, I just want the Eagles to atleast make it to the play-offs this year.

Going for 2 when you are up by 19 with 5 minutes to go? That deserves a big FU to Peyton and the Colts. The Pats won't win the superbowl this year, and I'm cool with that. Hell, I can handle losing tonight. The Colts are a better team. Whatever. But seriously, going for 2 in this situation? That's pretty crappy. I hope that the Colts get absolutely manhandled in the playoffs this year. It would be great if the Pats could do it in Indy, but seriously, I will LOVE any team that kicks their ass, even if it is the Steelers. Karma is gonna catch up to them in a big way.

why would anyone want T.O. on their team? he freakin bashed mcnabb and got into a fist fight. he's so egocentric and cocky that it's not even funny. he definitely crossed the line and doesn't deserve to play. football is a TEAM sport...if he wanted the spot light 24/7 then he should be playing golf not football. there are plenty of wide receivers as good and even better than T.O. i think the eagles will manage without him.

Plenty of recievers as good as T.O.? The only current reciever in his class would be Randy Moss. There are plenty of good recievers out there, sure. But T.O. is in an elite class, the only other recievers really on par with him would be Chad Johnson, Randy Moss, Plaxico Burress, Torry Holt, and MAYBE Keyshawn Johnson and Muhsin Muhammad. That's all, save a few (two at most), that can claim to be in the same class as T.O.

He may be a locker room problem, but when it comes down to it, winning is winning. T.O. will get a new team after this season, possibly lining up across from Michael Vick of the Atlanta Falcons. A player of his caliber can't be overlooked. Whew.

Pats won. Woot. I love Asante Samuel and Troy Brown. They are aweeeesome.

Eagles loss... what a shocker. I can't believe they're at the bottom of their division and the Cowboys are tied for first at 6-3!!! Crazy.

I hate the Colts. They're still shit. The Bengals, Steelers (even with Charlie Batch at QB), Chargers, and Seahawks can beat them. They won't be undefeated for the season. And they'll only make it as far as the playoffs... where they'll lose to the Steelers. Mark my words, THE COLTS WILL NOT MAKE IT TO THE SUPERBOWL!

Besides, they're a DOME team!!!!!!

i freakin hate the colts

what is wrtong with the patriots
either they had some conditioningg problems in the off season or the wear and tear of long preseasons is coming to haunt them. All I know is that they're gonna make the playoffs but if they want the 3 peat, someone else has to knock out the colts cuz they jus dont have the parts to do it.

ps. my aunt dates Asante Samuel's dad so I got her to get me tickets to their game against the Saints. Should be a good one!!.(Finally, an easy win for these guys.)
oh and by the way, the pats will pick up T.O. MARK MY WORDS!!!!(JKJK)

im looking forward to having deep, thoughtful conversations with you guys about the league. you guys seem to know your stuff(just don't don't let your team bias take over too much!!!)

I wouldn't think that conditioning is the problems here. And considering that the preseason is only 4 games long, I don't think that that plays a large role either. The problem with the Patriots is that they're all banged up. Hell, they have 7 players on the IR already!

Yeah, the problem this season is injuries.

They just placed Dan Koppen and Randall Gay on IR the other day. T_T We have a no name secondary, two rookies starting the left side, now we have a back up center and Dillon can't seem to recover from his injury. Every week, there's a whole new crop of injuries.

Last week Patrick Pass and David Givens didn't start and Dillon went out after the first play...

Like I said, the Steelers have the biggest chance to beat the Colts. And I'm sure they can do it. Considering they ended the Patriots' 21 game winning streak last year and the Eagles what, 7 game winning streak? Back to back. So yeah, I have much faith in the Steelers (though I don't like them that much either) but I'll love ANY team that beats the Colts and manhandles their asses. T_T

actually i totally disagree with you on the steelers pick to beat the colts
even the patriots were able to beat that team and they just arn't playing the same way that they were last year. Im not sayin they are a bad team, im just sayin that th colts have, by far, the best team overall in the league.

Where was their defense yesterday? The Bengals scored 37 points on them.

If Roethlisberger is playing next week, then I do believe the Colts will be beaten. But if they're playing a third string QB...

I was really hoping they'd be playing in Pittsburgh... not the damn dome. Ugh.

Seriously, dome teams are shit. You're not a real football team unless you're playing OUTSIDE!

I was actually rooting for the Eagles to win just because I don't like the Giants and Eli Manning. But I'm afraid this is it for the Eagles.

Um. It was pretty much a given that you'd lose. McNabb was out and McMahon was starting.

You have no WR. And are JUST getting the running game back...

And though I hate to admit it, the Giants are good. And they were home. Coming off an upset...

that game last night was the fastest ive ever seen a game end. I practically turned on my tv, watched marvin harrison burn the steeler secondary, then turned off the tv. One of the scariest moments ive ever seen in football
(besides the "tuck rule" play.)

Go PATRIOTS!!!!!!!

I didn't start watching that game until the beginning of hte fourth. But after I saw the interception... I stopped. UGGGGGH. I'm so pissed. I hate the Colts. mad.gif

I didn't really watch the Pats/Chiefs game... I woke up late and I turned it on right at the interception. Ouch. pinch.gif Tommy had a bad day... kind of like the Miami game last year.

But hey, we're still at the top of our division. :) And one thing I've learned, never count out the Patriots. ESPECIALLY in the post-season... that's when they REALLY shine.

Man...did Philly got RAPED. Biggest blow-out I've seen on Philly. Well, I guess I can now go to reality and recognize that Philly is out of it. On the other hand, My Bears keep bringing wins.

Go Chi-Town!

Tom Brady's Sports Illustrated's Sportsman of the Year. Huzzah! :)

If we win this Sunday's game and Miami loses... we'll clinch the division title. :)

Well, since the Eagles have basically closed their window to the play-offs, it's all about my hometown team now, the Bears. A win over the Steelers will REALLY make people jump on their bandwagon. Ofcourse, I was on it since pre-season. Anyways, this is how the games look like for Week 14:

My Record For Last Week: 11 - 5
My Total Record (After Week 10): 40 - 21

***Chicago at Pittsburgh (Go Bears!)

Cleveland at Cincinnati

Houston at Tennessee

+++Indianapolis at Jacksonville (Indy WILL NOT Go Perfect!)

New England at Buffalo

Oakland at N.Y. Jets

St. Louis at Minnesota

Tampa Bay at Carolina

N.Y. Giants at ***Philadelphia (Go Eagles!)

San Francisco at Seattle

Washington at Arizona

Baltimore at Denver

Kansas City at Dallas

Miami at San Diego

Sunday Night Football:
Detroit at Green Bay

Monday Night Football:
New Orleans at Atlanta

As much as I hate to admit it, there was no way Indy was losing this week. T_T

I realize, with most of Brady's interceptions, they were all tipped balls. So it's not really his fault. :P

And how cute was he, dancing on the sidelines. <333

I knew the Bears offense problems were gonna catch up eventually...and they did against Pitt. But it's all good. We have another tough game coming up next week against Atlanta, the Bears are good at stopping the run, but lately Vick has thrown more than usual. Although Minn. is right behind us (and they're hot right now), we're still gonna come on top to win the division. And Philly...well, they played a GOOD game, but still lost...oh well. And the Colts...okay, if Jax couldn't do it, San Diego or most Def. Seattle WILL...I repeat, WILL, take them down! mad.gif boxing.gif

So the NFL regular season is coming to a close. Only 3 more weeks remaining. The Bears look to rebuild themselves after their 8 game winning streak was snapped by the Steelers. The Eagles are officially out of the play-off race. They need to look forward to thier off-season. The Colts remain kings. This week the play the Chargers. It's gonna be a good game. I can't wait till they play the Seahawks.
Well anyways, this is Week 15:

My Record For Last Week: 9 - 7
My Total Record (After Week 10): 38 - 23

Saturday's Games:
Tampa Bay at New England
Kansas City at N.Y. Giants

***Philadelphia at St. Louis (Still supporting the Eagles!)
Pittsburgh at Minnesota
+++San Diego at Indianapolis (OK, if this aint it, next week WILL be it)
Seattle at Tennessee
San Francisco at Jacksonville
Cincinnati at Detroit

Dallas at Washington

Sunday Night Football:
