How do you get this animation?

Im wondering how you get that tear like animation? ive seen it before.. can someone explain? do you need certain brushes for it? ty in advance!

actually you can do it in animation shop.
You just make your image.
and open it up in animation shop then go to effectss.
then click insert image effect
and on the drop down menu go to scratches.

I only have image ready.. (that comes with photoshop)

i know what imageready is.
this isnt exactly alike but maybe this tutorial can give you some sort of idea:

Its called, scratch not tear ermm.gif well you have to have animation shop, and if you use this tutorial: it shows you how to do it. http://www.createblog.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=85734 if anything just pm and i'll help you.
