Splinter!, help Options

I have a splinter stuck up in my nail.it went through my whole nail..i tried cutting my nail and squeezing it out and usign a tweezer..but it don't work.. So i was wondering if it ever happened to you guys and if you know how to take it out.. Thanks!

there are medications at the drug store where you just apply the gel or whatever over your splinter and it will eventually bring the splinter out.

I told my sister what happened.  This was the convo:

Me: I GOT THE WOOD OUT!
Sister: Good! They won't have to cut off your thumb anymore!
Me: I'm so happy, but it stings!!!
Sister: You do know I was kidding about the cut thumb off thing, right?

I got mad at her.  I was in 1st grade at the time.

HAHAHAHA I was like you. My oldest friend which is a girl and I call her unnie. She told me that too. I was so mad at her when she said she was only kidding. GOSH! I was so desperate and I cried so much because I was scared that I had to cut my thumb out, so I quickly do everything as possible by using my sharp nail or this sharp object that hurted LIKE HECKA! it was bleeding a lot too. that's what i did and it came out.

i wanted to put that older friend of mine in a cage with lots of dead animals since she so scared of them. mwahahahaa im so evil mwahahaha.

I don't know, I just use tweezers even if the splinter is deep. Once, it took me approximately half a day to get out this splinter.

wow ON ur nail?! but once i got like 10 splinters on my palm and i got them out with a needle and a tweezer. ouch. umm why dont u ask ur mom or dad to get it off? my dad helped me get all ten of mine off.

i had about 15 splinters once (long story) tweezers saved my life =)

like it went through your nail...or up underneath it...either way its really hard to cut the nail down that far and itd be hard to get it out...so just go see a doctor.

I try to make a slit deep enough (but slowly with a safety pin or something). Then use tweezers to get it out... if it's really deep in there though, you might want to get a doctor to take it out (or else there might be an infection)

wow, sounds like a bad splinter. i would try the tweezers again. but it might get infected after a while, no? ask your parents for help? maybe even a doctor if that dosn't help.

I don't know what to do, but I usually take a tweezer to pick it out.  You should go tell your parents.

I reminds me of this time I got a splinter into my thumb.  Everyone at my scouting place was trying to PICK it out with the nails (well, the girls...)....It was horrible.  What was worse was that my sister told me that if I went to the doctor, they would CUT my thumb off, so that whole night I was taking a tweezer trying to pull the spliter out.  I achieved it, but most of my skin on my thumb ripped off, so I had to stop the blood, put medicine over it, and stick a band-aid on.

That's nothing i was walking through an ally passing my hand throught he chain link fences as i walked, then it transitioned into a fence and i got a splinter. My sis was with me, and she said i'd die in 24 hours if i didnt do what she said because she knew the antidote........I was her bitch for a whole day when i was 6 ahha.........

i usually cut my fingernail down until i can tweeze it out.

Try using the splinter some more or something really small with some clasps to grab the splinter.

Ha, I had one stuck on my back and it was a big piece of wood. It was at Art class or something when we were lineing up to leave, and I was like.. rubbing my back on the door thing and of course it had to be wooden. Anyways, it got stuck on my back and on the way home on the bus, I told my little sister to come sit with me and check it out. We went home and tried to take it out with tweezers. It didn't work so well and we left it there and tried to like.. scratch it out. Some fell out but, today, I feel a small bump of where it was.

I don't have any advice at all 'cause what you're in now, it sounds really disgusting and I wouldn't know how to do that.

maybe sumthing smaller than tweezer.. like picking away from your skin with a pin or sumthing but the same thing happened to my sister and the doctor had these giants tweezers and it came out in about half a sec
