I don't know how to make a poll so I'm just gonna do it.

Has anyone in here ever considered a military career? Whether it be the:

Army
Air Force
Coast Guard
National Guard
Reserves
Marines
Navy

I have probably left out a few because I always forget things when it comes to write things down. I am seriously thinking about pursuing an Army career. I have been thinking about it since...well since I was about 6 haha. Probably after College, gotta be an officer ya know. : )

Anyone?

My baby daddy was Navy SEAL. But no, I'm not having thoughts of joining, whatsoever.

But if you are considering joining, be a Navy SEAL.

That is...if you're ready for Hell Week. shifty.gif

Oh, and I advise against the Army, if anything. A lot of SEALs I know say the Army is full of p**sies.

Oh it's just when I was young and I lived in a community of many white people I was always harrassed and made fun of. Growing up becoming gay hasn't really helped and even when I'm on vacation or hanging out with some friends going to an amusement park or something I always here people mocking me. For example...I was at dorney with my friends and a group of kids were like what the eeff is a chink doing here...bah ok i overreacted with the whole country thing but yeah i just dont like how people are brought up i should say =)

I wouldn't want to join the army. I'm too young and even though it would be for a good reason, it's just not my thing, I guess.

But they always send my brother these Army/Navy invitations and stuff. You can get like scholarships if you join, I think.

I'm sorry to hear that. You should try coming to the Bay Area. Asian people galore : ). I'm an Iranian Muslim, so I get the ''terrorist'' remarks every once in a while. Only jokingly though..it's my nickname for football. pinch.gif

yeah. i've thought about joining the military a few times here and there.

i wanted to try the air force, army, or navy.

experience a different part of life, ya know?

you don't have to always expect to strike it rich, or spend your life, working in an office cubicle--so that's one option to opt out of that.

and lo mein---

the main reason why so many people (generally white) like to pick on azn people is because most azn people just sit there and take it. we don't usually do anything about it--and just ignore it.

and fit it bothers you so much about it---sometimes you should stand up for yourself. when it comes to fighting, azn people and hispanic people are usually united very well, but white people don't usually back each other up. they are on their own.

and, from past experiences, most white guys (no offense to anyone) that make rascist remarks and such are p**sies. they can't even back up their own words. haha. it's an embarrassment.

You are aware that other elite branches of the Military of exact replicas of Hell Week? And no, I personally have not. I'm 16, so I've done the next closest thing. Football in 90+ degree weather with no water breaks. God. Good times.

Yeah, I am actually aware. What made you think I wasn't? From what I know, dating many Army and a few SEALs, since you seem to be up to the challenge, the Navy would probably be the better choice.

Do you know what happens during Hell Week, I wonder?

It's just I have always had my mind set on the Army. Starting off in maybe the airborne and moving going into the Rangers and then into Delta. Yes, miss. I am aware of what happens during Hell Week. : )

Well, in 5th grade I considered being in the Air Force. I really wanted to fly in those fighter planes. It still fascinates me. But, they would never let me because for one, I have major eye problems. I'm almost legally blind in both eyes. And now I've grown to very srongly dislike this country and I want nothing to do with it, so no. It isn't an option for me.

I have. I've always lived near military bases, and my father was in the Army, and I use to want to join. Wanted to be a nurse. Decided not to join though, military life is a hard one.

Think about your decision long and hard. There might be a possibility of you going to war, and it's NOT an easy thing. Gotta be ready mentally, physically, and emotionally.

hah. it's not about height.

it's about toughness.

size isn't all that's just the case. just like dogs, some of those tiny little terriors are scarier than the big st. bernards that just sit there and drool.

catch my drift?

Private [E-1] (Pvt)

Private [E-2] (Pvt)

Private First Class [E-3] (PFC)

Specialist, Fourth Class [E-4] (Spc)

Corporal [Command E-4] (Cpl)

Sergeant [Command E-5] (Sgt)

Staff Sergeant [Command E-6] (Sgt)

Sergeant First Class [E-7]

Master Sergeant [E-8 ]

First Sergeant [E-8]

Sergeant Major [E-9]

Command Sergeant Major [E-9 Grade]

Command Sergeant Major of the Army [E-9 special]

I'll post the Officer Corps ranks later. I have to go now :X

Yes, I have. The Marines. It's something I truely want to do. I have a huge sense of patriotism. I love America. My grandpa fought on Utah Beach in World War II and I have a lot of respect for the soldiers then and now. I'll probably go after highschool if I don't get into a college.

When I get out of high school I am going to join the Army, when I am done with basic I am going to try and get into warrant officer school - if that happens (which the recruiter that comes to our school says I can make it), I’m off to Aviation School to learn how to fly a Black Hawk.

I would like to be a Marine but man, after watching some boot camp videos of what Marines have to go through - I don't think I have the strength and will to do it.

Here she is, that’s what I want to fly.

I did the deal on the US Army website where you answer questions and they tell you what your Strengths are and such. My #1 strength was leadership, and they recommended Warrant Officer School...... Wo0t

For a long time, I wanted to be an army aviator, too. Thought it would be great to fly helicopters. I think the military is a great path, and a great way to return a favor to your country. I've lately been thinking about it because I could use the nice bonuses the Army offers for college, and my brother is in the army, and I really respect what he's doing it. I've thought about flying, but I don't think my eyesight is good enough to be a pilot. I spoke to a recruiter that knows my brother not too long ago, and I took the test they give recruits, the results of which he said pretty much guaranteed me a spot in Officer Candidate School, which interested me. I would really like to fly--I'd like to join the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment--but my eyesight isn't good enough to be a pilot, I think (although I could qualify for some other member of the aircrew).

Of course, I still think service to the government is a noble goal, so I am considering a job with the Department of Defense or possibly some organization within the US intelligence community upon graduation.

When I was younger I would look at the Army comercials and would say that I wanted to join.
But now not so much.
I don't want to join the Army, don't know why I just don't.

How interesting that this topic is brought up now.

Actually, I've been thinking of working in the military, more specifically the Army Reserves, after graduating for some time now. I had a plan to join as an officer not a private because I would have a degree and work in clerical for two/three years. After that, I'll go back to school to get a graduate degree... Just a couple of months ago, I wanted to quit cB for an internship with a government agency. That didn't work out...

Anyway, just yesterday I've finanlized my decision and it won't be the Army Reserves. I'm planning to join the Peace Corps. I think it'll prove to be a more rewarding experience for me.

All military branches talk shit on each other. Essentially, none are really better then the other. MArines will always say they are the best and army will say this and that and navy will say this and that. whatever. its all just hype and competition. I'm in the military, its good stuff. btw the guy who posted ranks....in the army there is no e-5 or e-6 spc.. i dont know where you got that from? I've never heard of that in my life. maybe in other branches? i wouldnt know then. but not in the army. generally, i know a thing or two about the military so if you realyl are considering and want some non-biased advice, come hit me up.

What kind of plane do you have? Some people think the CAP isn't so important, but it helped out in WWII and during 9/11.

I used to want to go into the US Navy because of the classes and career training you can get there. Two months of bootcamp and I'm off on a Navy Aircraft Carrier doing what I want to do, but I figured college is much easier and quicker. Navy is good though, they pay for your college...

I can't think of anything I would less like to do.

I would be shot (or similar) for insubordination within half an hour anyway, so I can't really say it would be a sensible career move.

I remembered when I tried to join the NAVY. I got a 83 on my ASVAB, I passed my physical and drug test. But there was one question that I said yes to that I knew I shouldn't have.

Because of it I got screwed out of the NAVY and my recruiter lost his job for adding false information into my application.

But I guess God wills it for me not to go to the military. And honestly, I never regretted either.
