i was at the 'harry potter get together' thing from 8:30 eastern time the night of the 6th book release. put my name on the list so i would be one of the first to get my copy. anyways, time goes by. i'm sitting there reading some skate books, listening to the music in the back. finally it's 11:30. "#1-50 get on line." 2 minutes later. "#51-100 get on line." so i get on line because i'm #72. waiting for 12:00. 11:40. 11:45. 11:50. lights go out. music stops. "we are very sorry for the inconvenience but we've been told by the cops we must evacuate the building." apparently there was some kind of power outage in that town, and they had to evacuate the building. i had to go all the way to another town that had borders, where they sent EVERYONE from that store to. spent 45 minutes driving to this other town, and then we had to wait for everyone from where we were now to get their books, before we got ours. i didn't get my book until around 2:00 when i would have had it at 12:10.

it was in the paper the next day, that the borders i was at didn't have the permission to keep the store open that late. the cops that were there were shutting the store down because of this. who knows why the hell they waited until 5 minutes before, but the cops shut it down intentionally, which is why the "power outage" seemed so fake.

Gosh, that must've so sucked. pinch.gif
Plus, the outlet of borders should've asked for permission to keep the shop open till late.

i don't really get what the whole harry potter craze is about.

i mean--yeah okay. sure, i guess it's a pretty cool book... but there's a line between interest and obsession

don't attack me for saying this but...

...it's just a book rolleyes.gif

see, i don't really see the point. i have a life, so i don't bother being all sad and angry that i didn't get the book as soon as it was released. i just pre-order it through amazon and let it come to me early in the morning. big whoop.

I got mine at Target with no problems.
I worked that morning (3am-10am) so it really didn't matter if the books went quickly, because I hide away a couple copies for other coworkers and myself.

I went to a Midnight Magic Party and everything was fine. I messed (you could say flirted) with the guy putting those wash-away tattoos on kids. He was nice, and his hands were warm. (I got six tattoos myself.) All in all, it was a lot of fun. My friend and I ran around with our wands yelling "Stupefy!" at all these random people.

That sucks. They're closing down Border's just because it was open for just two more hours. o_o.
Buy yours at Target, Wal-Mart, or at a grocery store next time, they're more easier to get, and that way, you won't have loads of people cramming to go get the next HP book!

i say the next time you see them, chuck your hp book at one of them.
it's big enough, it should hurt a little.

^^ Exactly. I'm not bosessed; I like reading the book. It's not like I go to conventions and have pictures of Harry or Ron all over my room. Seriously. They should be like..therapy for this.

I'm sorry though for not getting your book until later. Once the 7th one comes out, I'm sure you'll get it by 12:05. _smile.gif

i killed harry potter about the same time the first book came out. hes a ghost now and his little made up world is stupid. hip hip hooray...it got the author off of wellfare, but now shes like one of the richest people in britian. get over it. harrys not 13 anymore and just because that happened doesnt mean that people shouldnt go to those like the title states.

Well, I don't see why people don't like the fact that there are a lot of HP fans. At least people have found something to be interested in besides drugs and sex..

Anyway, I got my book at my local bookstore and I was surprised there wasn't a line like there was when the 5th book came out. I get the 5th book really late, but I was told there was a huge ass line.

Yeah, me either. Kind of wondered why people get upset over the fact that people are actually reading again.

Yeah I went to a party for it as well, but it was at some bookstore down in Southside. I can't remember the name. pinch.gif It was this huge three-story building that had various stations set up (i.e. potions, tattoos as you said but you're probably not going to respond to this anyways because you haven't been active in forever, door prizes, etc.) with employees dressed up as the characters. I think I got about five balloon animals. I had to wait in line amongst a pack of raving, angsty five year-olds. laugh.gif

I went to Barnes and Noble at midnight for the 5th, which was fun because it was packed, but I was in Virginia for the 6tj, so I made my uncle drive me to a Walmart an hour away to get it at midnihgt which was not so fun, but at least i got it.

I had so much fun at my Barnes and Noble Half Blood Prince release. Me and my friend went there at 7 and played all these totally lame Harry Potter games that were for little kids. We messed around and read other books until midnight, and I eventually got my book. It was funny because my other friend doesn't even like Harry Potter, but she came anyway. Such a good friend laugh.gif.

I guess it just depends on the kind of experience you had. I'm definitely going back for the release of the 7th!
