do we really need another thread every time someone goes on vacation?
there are two in like the first 5 topics in the lounge right now... i mean, you dont need to post to say you wont be here for a WEEK. i mean, possibly if you'll be gone for three months, but otherwise, no so perhaps we could create some sort of pinned 'going away?' thread? |

yeah, it seems like a good idia. but keep in mind that the main reason why there are many hiatus threads is because it's summer vacation, and its natural for people to be gone for weeks or even months at a time. so, when school starts back up, then there probably won't even be any, and the thread would just be a waste of space until the next holiday season.

lol well if was gonna be a long vacation, or leaving for an important reason, I can see making a thread, but the ones lately have been getting kind of pointless. It's not that I don't like them, it's more like if I cared enough that you were going away, I would notice myself the fact that you weren't around.

yeah, i keep debating whether or not i should close, but in the end it hasn't been worth it. i don't think we need a pinned one,though. we have one backstage, and that's sufficient, as that's all that matters anyway. i went away for a week too, and i didn't make a whole thread

I think a pinned topic of going on hiatus/saying goodbye would be a good idea. I saw this done on another forum, and so far no one has created their own on hiatus/goodbye topics.

Well, what about people that are leaving for a while and don't want to lose their official member status because of their ppd going down becuase they went on hiatus?

In the official member thread, there's already an answer to your question Alvin.
People leaving for an extended period of time should post 5 posts for every day they will be gone. Therefore, their PPD will stay high enough not to lose their status. |

lol I think a pinned topic on "going away" would be a bit too much. Since so many people are leaving createblog for a week, month, or even forever, we should have a "goodbye cb" forum, just like the introductions!!!!!!
haha, no i kid. seriously. I find it ok if someone says they are going away for a month or a few months, i've seen those around...but then we get "i'm gone for a week" sorta thing, and it's nice to post in there to say "aww have fun" and be nice, but i don't think the topics are really necessary. So i'm hoping that when they come back it's not a "I"M BACK!!" topic, in the lounge. But like Brie said, It's alot easier if they just put it in their signature. But i mean, i wouldn't start closing them yet...just if they get too out of hand. And someone up there mentioned summer vacation and all, so i mean, it would be pointless to make a pinned topic or new forum or somethan. :) Okay |
