Funny error codes/messages |

Perhaps it is because I am a programmer myself, but I am always amused by the interesting error messages that sometimes pop up in applications. I was especially humored by this one I got tonight, when I was trying to log into my webmail account:
 I thought the "Login failed for some reason" and "Most likely your username and password was entered incorrectly" were nice touches. (As a tangent, that wasn't the error at all, but it was a nice attempt at a guess!) Anyone else have some funny error messages they've come across during their computing adventures? |

 You get 'congratulations' misspelled, and a witty ending. |

I always like reading the startup messages that scroll by when you load up the Sims Makin Magic, such as "Reticulating Unreticulated Spines" and "Optimizing Baking Temperature"

I once wrote a quick program that utilized a switch structure to handle data output. I put in a default case that I figured would never, ever come up under normal usage; I didn't have time to figure out exactly what would had to have happened to make that part of the program execute, so I had it throw up a dialog box that said, "An error may or may not have occurrred. Your changes may or may not have been saved."

I think my favorite ones of all time were when my brother hacked my computer over our network and sent me error messages that said stuff like
"You suck" And I had to click okay. or "Your mom doesn't love you" "You must click okay HAHAHAHAH"  PS. I love the kernal errors in mac. They are more scary than the blue screens of death....on PC |

This isn't in a computer per se, but I got a kick out of this note in the PHP manual (emphasis added):
Note: In the Microsoft Windows series of Operating Systems the system libraries implementing this function are broken, so gmdate() does not support negative values for the timestamp. For details see bug reports: #22620, #22457, and #14391. This problem does not occur in Unix/Linux Operating Systems, as the system libraries behave as expected. PHP cannot fix broken system libraries. Contact your OS vendor for a fix to this and similar problems. |
