btw ive checked everywhere about this topic , but none most likely .

anyways considering noone has made a topic about this yet , does anyone around here listen to urban soul / Neo Soul ? ....not your typical Usher , Omarion , Beyonce ,Mario crap bleh X P .....Neo-Soul sounds more laid back with a little bit of Jazz like harmonics . happy.gif

examples of such artists would be Alicia Keys , Erykah Badu , D`angelo , Musiq Soulchild , Indie Arie ,Remy Shand , Dwele , Rhian Benson and John Legend ( i consider him a soul artist tongue.gif )

Does anyone here have a favorite ?

Yes. Yes. Yes. My favortie genre of music. I love it because it pulls a lot of its influences from Old-School/Classic Soul and uses instruments most of the time. Not to mention the vocals are usually much stronger than your typical R&B.

Alicia Keys (favorite)
Jill Scott
Dwele
John Legend
Joss Stone
Maxwell
D'Angelo
Amel Larrieux
Groove Theory
Floetry
Lauryn Hill
India Arie
Erykah Badu
Vivian Green
Lyfe Jennings
Javier
Musiq Soulchild
Mos Def
Angie Stone
Raphael Saadiq
Anthony Hamilton
Heather Headley

* favorites in bold

I LOVE neo-soul. It's such an honest and open form of music.

My Favorite Neo-Soul artists would have to be,
Angie Stone (Stone Love is an AMAZING album)
Vivian Green
India.Arie
Floetry (has anyone seen them lately? I heard both of them lost a lot weight)
Jill Scott
Jaguar Wright
Nicole Ferrell-the only 'soetry' artist
Leela James
Goapele (So hyped for her album coming out in August)
Musiq
Van Hunt (very original style)
Erykah Badu (Baduizm is definatly one of the greatest albums of all time)
Tony! Toni! Toné!
Lyfe Jennings (Another AMAZING album)
Maxwell
D'angelo
Anthony Hamilton

I know I'm forgetting someone...

He doesn't look like he did on that "untitled" video thats for sure. LMAO. Does anyone remember when that guy from BET made a video of that D'Angelo video "how does it feel".

In order of favortism or approval as listed by the number .

10. Carlos Santana - Eh dont know if he is exactly Neo Soul but what the hell may as well add him.
9. Anthony Hamilton - Like his music, enough said
8. Tone Toni Tony - I still got their cassete tapes. LMAO
7. Heather Headly - I use to like her until my mom played out all of her songs.
6. Lyfe Jennings - His voice sounds odd but its all good.
5. Musiq Soulchild - I only have his first album but i need that song Half Crazy from his second album
4. D'Angelo - I have the CD with Untilted(How does it feel).
3. Erykah Badu - You better go call Tyrone.
2. Alicia Keys - I have both albums and she is a very soulful singer.
1. Maxwell - Have all his albums. Best album was urban suite to me. I've been listening to that CD a lot lately. Especially the song "Dance with me"

Yes. I know who you're talking about. I've got his album. "Song For Your Tears", "In Your Hands" and "October Sky" are brilliant.
