I've searched this topic and I've found nothing on it. I think I would prefer pain-killers because of how much it's supposed to hurt but I also am a chicken when it comes to needles (epiderals would scare the crap out of me lol) so I was thinking about the natural birth? My mother had a natural birth and she said it was painfull at first but it eventually goes numb. What is your opinions?

I've also heard of natural births in a tub with water which sounded a little strange to me.

ahh needles! Scary. I might try natural =/...I'd have to learn more about it all though.

Maybe by the time I do have to worry about this, some more advaned thing will come out _smile.gif I have years to think about this. Many..many years.

wouldn't that almost drown the baby when it comes out though? blink.gif

i would want pain killers in the hospital. but maybe natural. if i could handle the pain (which i probably couldn't) then i'd just do it naturally.

but my mom said the used pain killers the first time (for my brother) and the second time she could handle it (with me) and she gave birth naturally. i guess i could do that whistling.gif

that wouldn't drown the baby stubborn.gif when it's born, the umbilical cord is still attatched which gives the baby air and food. studies have shown that babies born in a tub or in water are calmer.

on july 1st, my half sister in law gave birth to a baby boy, she had a natural birth because it was too late for the pain killers...she said it was the worst pain imaginable ermm.gif she also said that there's this monitor thing that shows the contractions and how bad they were, hers were off the charts... blink.gif but she was only in labor for 5 hours so it can't be that bad.

i'd have a natural birth even though when i got my ears pierced a second time i felt like i was going to die pinch.gif ...because my boyfriend's genes are kind of the weak side and my skin is allergic to certain medical lotions so i wouldn't want to risk hurting my baby with pain killers.

I wonder what sort of tub you would give birth in? A sanitized one obviously, but at home or in a hospital? I'd be afraid to give birth at home, even if a doctor was there because my fear is that what if something bad happened and the doctor would need to perform a c-section.

You can choose to have a natural birth but there is a certain time limit and once you pass a certain point and decide you want pain-killers, the doctors will refuse to give it to you. So that would be kinda scarey to me if I decided to have a natural birth then once it started to get extremely painful and I asked for pain-killers then the doctor said, "Well you can't have any."

My boyfried actually wants me to have a natural birth lol once we decide to have kids. I never thought guys would care if the woman had a natural birth or not?

I hate pain, and i hate needles. Sooo, most likely going for natural even though I would HATE the pain.
Oh well, there's still a while to what will happen. :)

I would rather have it at the hospital where the doctors are there to help you. At home, you might not know what to do & something might happen. So, I guess I have to go on the safe side.

I'd like to have natural but knowing myself, my toleration of pain is about 2 seconds. So, i suppose it'll be the drugs...at least it won't be as painful...

I had an emergency c-section since my baby was breech...

I don't know if it was because I was just freaking myself out or if it really was painful but it wasn't a nice experience. I was having contractions but the guy kept telling me to relax so that he could insert the needle correctly. I'm all, "Holy shit what if I tense us all of a sudden? OMFG what if a contraction comes and the needle breaks inside me cuz I straighten up too soon?blahblah....?"

I basically feels like a regular shot.. only it's going into your spine and you can feel the needle go in.

"The grass is green. The sun is warm. The grass is green. The sun is warm." lol to all the karate kid fans.

I wish I could've gone through my natural birth though. I see it as an honor. Your first test of motherhood--show how much pain you're willing to endure to bring your child into the world.

I know a bunch of people will be like 'I want the natural way because its saver'
But dr.s wouldnt give out medicine that would mess the baby up.

QUOTE(brownsugar @ Sep 29 2007, 12:12 AM) *
Call me crazy but I think going through the pain is an IMPORTANT part of child-bearing and God wouldn't want us to take that out. It's not supposed to be painless, free or easy to create life...It's one of God's special gifts he gave to us. The pain you have to endure is part of the reason why you appreciate what God has created so much, and gives the basic foundations for a mother.

Sex is the PLEASURE, birth is the PAIN. That's just what I believe, so no pain killers for me!

If God wanted us going through the pain, then why would he give us medicine?

yes it's true that women have been giving birth since the dawn of time without pain killers...

but you know what?

my husband was 28" LONG when he was born... that's over 2 feet long... and was 12 pounds.

i'm getting the epidural.
i have 10 weeks left in this pregnancy, and i'm getting all the effin drugs i can.
there's no way on this earth i'm going to try to squeeze a watermelon sized body through my cookie without getting some relief.

when you're preggo, you get all the stories from every woman about every kid they've had. whether you want them or not. and one of the stories i hear on repeat (i work in a strip-club, so i have lots of them) is "i went natural with my first (insert number greater than two)... i had an epidural on my last one... i don't know why i didn't get the epidural with the others".

i know me. i'm a hardass when it comes to external pain. piercings, tattoos, cuts and gashes... but internal pain? i'm such a baby when it comes to tummy aches, headaches, or even simple gas cramps.
i remember what my period cramps were like, and omg i could have died. if i can't SEE what's causing the pain, i can't deal with it.

there's no way i'm going through this natural, unless by some unforeseen horrible circumstance i can NOT get drugs.
none.

I was going to do the whole c-section thing because one of my dads friends that he works with wife had it twice and she said it was better until I heard other things so I guess I'm going with the natural way.

i'm opposed to C-section unless necessary, but that's a total vanity issue.. i'm 30 weeks (7.5 months) and no stretch marks (yet), and no indication of them so far.
i'd rather have a few stretchies than a scar across my belly.

brownsugar - LOL!!
but seriously, he's 23, and 6'8". he was 6'3" by the time he was 14 yrs old.

i'll say it again.

I would rather do it naturally in the hospital.

Even though it will hurt, i'm not really up for that needle in my spine. . . .

i'd rather have a quick poke in my spine that relieves the up and coming hours of pain coming from this kid being squeezed from my uterus out my cookie.

i dunno, the one just seems to waaaaaay out do the other.

Once you get that baby started, being frightened by a needle will be the least of your worries. Epidural all the way. Childbirth gets so ugly.

My 24 year old sister works in the pre-mature ICU unit, so she sees pre-mature infants born everyday she goes to work.
She says that some of the pain the women experience is excruciating. She'd never want to do it natural.

Okay I don't understand people who are all "OH MY GOD NEEDLES OUCH!! IM GOING NATURAL" if you wuss out over needles...have fun while your cervix dialates and you push out a baby whos head stretches your vagina 5 times (at least) its regular size. Oh and then there's the afterbirth of the placenta...

Oh and epidurals don't really negatively effect a baby. It causes the baby to be slightly more drowsy for a day or two than a baby born naturally.

Give me an epidural. It might hurt going in but it'll make the pain a helluva lot better. We watched extremly graphic birth videos in child development class (one part of a movie my teacher even turned away) and there's no way I'd go natural.
