Seperate Background'd Entries Options

Are there any scripts that make the area around the actual posts a seperate color from the background?

Put into EITHER custom header part OR website stats on your look and feel page.

^ change #ff0000 to the color hex code you want for the background code. For color hex codes, you can refer to the Xanga FAQ.
