Well, bread is actually a polygon that looks like a square with two lumps at the top, you overlooked the fact that some breads are round and if you add those squared ham from Oscar Meyer onto squared bread, you get a squared sandwich.

'Cause bread can easily be made into a square. The factory machine just chops and moulds it into a square [well... square-like-lumpy-shape] and then bakes it. When baked, it just pops up like that. But in meat factory, they use round tubes or when they chop the meat off, it just comes off kinda round. And who wants to invent square tubes just for sandwiches??? Eh, some things in life are best left unanswered.

Hams aren't square. Hams are generally round. Cutting them in circles is most convenient. For all of you that oppose and say not all hams are round, go to the grocery store and find me a ham that's square. And yes there are some hams that are cut into squares. Why? So it can fit in square slices of bread.
B0st0ngirl pretty much got it though. |

Because the bread and sandwich meat wanted you to ask that question.
I don't know, the factories that make the bread and sandwich meat wanted you to ask that question. Ok, seriously, I guess because, as b0st0ngrl said, bread pans are square and the turkey and hams at the deli store are round. |

Let's just get the bread factory people and the meat factory people to come together and decide on making both triangles.
Let it be over with. |

if you have a round peice of peat it wont dry out as fast as a square one as the surface area to volume ration is lower to that if it were a square

its just easier to cut a turkey/chicken into round pieces. just take its body and chop it into little slices. no need for square shapes. bread is made in square pans im guessing. I DNO. tahts just my guess.

Answer to bread/ ham:
Once upon a time, there was a queen. She was very mean and very much a brat. She got her way or you lost your head. One day, a chef was hired by the queen against his will. She asked him to make her a dish and wash her gloves. Well, the chef had known her favorite meal was a special salad blend of ham, lettuce, tomato, and cheese. He began preparing the salad, and went after every detail. He mixed it perfectly and he made it into the most beautiful salad you had ever seen. As he finished the salad, he decided to take the salad to the queen. But he remembered the gloves, HE NEVER WASHED THEM. He ran around frantically and saw te filth they were covered in. "I COULD NEVER DO THIS IN TIME" he thought. He looked for the goo silverware "maybe she can use a fine utensil" but those had been taken by the mold of the drawers. The Chef had to think quick, for the queen called for her meal. He did all he could do, he took the ham, the cheese, the lettuce and two slices of bread and put them together. He cut the ham to fit the bread, square. He made the chese likewise."Maybe she can eat this with her hands and not get dirty.." He took the dish to the queen and she looked at it questionably "What is this?" she said. The chef thought for a moment and used his last name "A sandwhich your grace. You can eat it with your hands, and not mess up that fine attire." The queen picked it up and ate it. She was astouded "This is great!" she said excitedly, but then she began to choke. The chef didn't know what to do, he called for guards, who immediately helped remove the clogging. The queen was so embarassed at being caught and seen as weak, so she made an excuse. "What did you put on here?" The chef was clueless. She opened the bread and saw SQUARE HAM. She threw it in fake fear "AHH HEATHEN HAM! HEATHEN HAM!" she yelled. "OFF WITH HIS HEAD!" the chef didn't stand a chance. And from then on, by royal decree, all ham must be circulare and not square ina heathen way. But the ham laws of 1976 broke that and ham was free to be square again. But people already had circular ham cutters and were to lazy to change them. The ass question: They arn't square, because then plastic surgeons would have to charge more for certain products. Therefore, by natural selection, peoples asses are round, because ones that are square have to pay more to make them bigger or smaller. |

Well, if the bread pans were round, it'd just roll around in the oven. Plus, I don't think the heat would be even, making the bread not as good... or maybe I'm just talking too much nonsense since I've been watching 10 episodes of Yakitate!! Japan in a row (anime about bread baking)... but alas, I have no clue.
