fading away background...?, help please!

how do you make the edges of your image like this?



see the fading away edges? how do you do that in paint shop pro 9? sorry, i know i asked this question before, but i forgot how to do it and i can't find my post ><

i think you can use a mask. i have psp9...so id either just feather with the selection tool or use a mask.

I know this for photoshop, but it can be duplicated in PSP I'm sure. I just apologize for not knowing the exact name for the tools.

You need the select tool, set feather to some number 20 or higher, depending on how much you want the picture to fade. Make sure the background is on a different layer and is all white.

Select the part of the image you want to keep, and select inverse (ctrl+shift+I). Then hit delete on your keyboard.
