okay im browsing yahoo and i see this ad. i admit it is hilarious but what the f**k??? btw im chinese

in the TV commrecials they also have a mexican dude and a white guy - "Big Spenda" Lopez and "The Fee" Jones...

If there's anything to criticize, its the fact that it perpetuates the train of thought that Asians should dress/act/talk one way, black people should dress/act/talk one way, etc.

We always hear stuff like "man, they're just trying to act black." But I mean, damn. There are millions of black people in Africa that don't act that certain way. Does that make them less black?

What makes it racist? I see no racist acts or anything to do with racism in those ads.

Well, that's just how society views it. Lets see, who are they advertising too, o ya society. We don't know that THEY think that way, its ads.

Theres racist TV shows. I for one can't stand Chapel, what makes his show NOT racist.

Well if people did look at other plans, they would notice that t-mobile charges 2 times as much for over used minutes and they jack prices up so they don't hit rock bottom. All there commercials are stupid and there service is CRAP.

it's not exactly racist per se...it's more stereotypical, no? it portrays the stereotypical "ghetto fob" and "gangsta" characteristics.

anywho, i think it is funny, but it's not the best way to appeal to the public. it's sort of offensive to people.

Oh, wow, I've never thought of it that way.

But this is the kind of thing that pisses me off. People think that if you're black, you can only act one way, and if you're white, you can only act a certain way.

yea i don't really like those commercials. i have to admit, the first time i saw it, i laughed..and then i felt guilty afterwards..i mean, they're posers because they're of a different race than the stereotypical "ghetto fab" person or whatever? yea....

i dunno, i don't think it's the general thought of racism..more like playing on stereotypes..sometimes, that's ok, but in this case..it's offensive. =/

You're right it is funny, but at the same time it's racist. I don't think they should have done that. Some people might have been offended.

Na, i dont think it was that racist. If it were truly that racist they'd have the asian guy in some glasses and some book, perpetuating the asian stereotype. I just htink they were just trying to be goofy about the whole idiotit extremes of the hip-hop world-trying to empathize with us basically........

it works

i remember the asian guys words

It's not racist; people like this actually exist. Maybe not all the way off the edge like that, but I mean, there are posers everywhere. There are even a few people on Createblog.. rolleyes.gif What makes them posers? Because they act like hip-hop artists to an extreme to where it's unrealistic and it's just stupid. The person who directed that commercial was just having a bit of fun and it's hilarious. Maybe you're taking offense because you're trying to find something racist about it.

you know damn well if you saw a real life version of that cartoon, the majority of people would think "poser". advertisements just go with what they think society thinks.

it sorta rang a bell like that to, but then I cracked up. If that's how the commercial works, then the intentions weren't to seperate at all but to unite people under the T-Mobile standard... Which is far inferior to Cingular

I don't think they are racist at all. The commercials are meant to be humerous to relate to today's consumers.
