which hip hop artist influences fashion the most?, intelligent discussion please

I'd have to say Jay-Z. Although Big Boi was the first to wear throwbacks, nobody really started to wear them until Jay-Z and Fabolous wore them. Also when Jay-Z put his throbacks back in his closet and came back with the button ups and blazers everyone followed. Ecko launched it's Cut and Sew brand which provides tighter jeans and blazers.

A close second would be Kanye West. This dude basically brought back polo. He got everyone diggin through their closet for their vintage polo sweaters and evisu jeans.

Who do you think influences hip hop fashion the most?

There is no dressing white or dressing black. Rephrase that statement. stubborn.gif

Since you already took my answer, I'm going to go with Kanye West. Prior to his arrival in the game, I haven't seen many brothas rocking two Lacoste polos with matching kicks or argyle sweaters with button downs and sport coats. Thats been my style for a minute and as soon as Kanye made it big, people always say, "You've got Kanye West style, thats cool." Little do they know, when Kanye's style goes out of style for hiphop, this bboy/DJ will still be rockin' the same threads.

also, yeah, jay-z is a big trendsetter with the whole dress shirt/blazer thing.

I must agree with you on that one. I'm saving up right now so I can go to the BAPE store in SoHo and buy a pair.

But let's see...ooh, I got one close to Kanye. Farnsworth Bentley. The man taught Diddy how to dress.

It's called a "throwback," the jersey to which you're referring. His name is Big Boi and yes, he did help to (re)popularize it.

And Usher isn't hip-hop.

Am I the only one who's going to give love to Farnsworth Bentley?

I think [personally] Fabulous brought the throwback s knowing in a magazine i read he was more than 500! so why not him when it comes to that.

I like Jay`z style for a main hip-hop look because when your not our looking your best you can just throw on some jerseys and what not. His thing with collars and links ont he hand cuffs are great, i love a guy who can have great cuffs.. ;]

I also do admire Kanye West like you do, i used to never wear polo`s because people would hate on me for that! but now that kanye west be brinining it up, it made me more at-one with them. so if they got a problem know i be like LOOK AT KANYE`! hehe...
this is an interesting topic.

I also love missy elliots outrageous looks!

On your avatar you seem somewhat intelligent, but how is it that you say the stupid, most pointless, unnessary things that aren't even motherf**king true. You also could have read the motherf**king topic name, "INTELLIFUCKINGENT CONVERSATIONS ONLY." As in not people like you. So please, just get away from this site. better yet, just turn off your computer, and walk away from it. Dib't even look at it on your way out.

Anyways, going back to the subject, definitley Jay-z, but what about old school artists? I don't know, maybe Tupac?

Also, Ciara didn't make ugg boots. They were always unfortunatley popular. God, those things are so f**king ugly.

I love Pharrell's style. He has contributed so much to all of the trendy styles there are today. For example army fatigue jackets, Ice Cream shoes, and Baby Millo clothing. His style is so laid back, but still unique. Which is why admire him a lot.

Usher and Kanye West made blazers for men popular. Especially black ones. I also noticed guys at my school with Louis Vuitton backpacks. Something also started by Kanye.

A female artist would have to be Ciara. After she came out with the "1,2, Step" video I saw females rockin the high boots that are worn over your pants like crazy. She also mad low-rise cargo pants popular too.

reasonably well known? i guess, but appearing in kanye west's workout plan video and being a personal assistant to puffy is not nearing selling millions of albums, having a clothing line, and being on tv every day like jay-z, puffy, kanye, pharrell, etc. in order to have influence you have to be known.

pharrell, who recently won best dressed in some famous magazine, started the trend of purposely not matching, wearing a supreme box cap, smedium shirt, digi camo shorts and sb dunks that most people on nt dress like. i dont know about now because botox made his face all sickly looking (just look at the can i have it like that video) what has happened to that man?

pharrell, my dears. i love the way he dresses. whether he's experimenting with different looks or merging different styles, he's always doing it on his own with his own twist and in his own way. i think that he can pull off so many things nobody before him tried.

That dude made some of the realest dudes wear pink and the streets followed.
And Lil Wayne with the bathing ape, everyone where I live has at least a pair of them.
