You can't. That defeat the purpose of image mapping.

What? Isn't the background image the image map? Or are you talking about something else..?

From the way he said it, he's asking if you can map the background image, the one that show up in the background, y'know?. Which defeats the purpose of image mapping.

Actually you can if you put them on two different DIV layers...trust me...it still works...I've experimented...

although it would just be easiest to make the whole thing one image map and it would take up less space. Depends on what your using it for.

Or are you are asking just how to map an image that you are going to use for a background? If so one of the createblog tutorial writers has recommended This Site before.

>.< You can't do that. If you were to use the image as a background, the kind of background you put into the background image box in CLAF for Xanga, you cannot specify for it to read an image map, so you can't map it. Am I not making sense?
However, if you were to position everything over the image, you would be able to point the image to an image map, therefore... You can image map it. From my POV, you're asking for the first one, which is why I said it defeats the purpose of mapping.

mrvegas did not specify whether it was xanga or not. I know for a fact that if you put them in seperate DIV tags and one DIV tag is like your "Background" it works because I've done it...I'm not pulling this out of no where. I get what you are saying though but I meant that you make it *look* like your background, but it doesn't have the same coding...it's the IMG coding in a DIV tag. Does that make sense?

...I did it on my site...and it worked. I have my own webspace. It depends on what you are doing this for...You MUST put them in seperate DIV tags though [if that wasn't made clear enough already!]

I KNOW YOU CAN DO THAT~!
>.< I was saying what kind of background I was talking about. I know how it works, I image-map all the time. But it sounds like he was asking if you can map a background image like the one you put in CLAF. So I'm sorry, for being a total idiot. Half of what I say is liable to be wrong anyways, and I don't really make sense.
