people who are generally mean get respect. i mean like, if there's this really bitchy girl at school who goes around beating up others and stuff, people will respect her cause they don't wanna be treated badly, even if they don't like her. and all the nice people get walked all over and treated badly cause people think they won't do anything about it cause they're nice.

if people make fun of others and call them names, people are nice to them and join in even if they don't think it's right just cause they don't wanna be made fun of.

why isn't anyone standing up for the nice people these days? i see it all the time at school, and anywhere, really..

I totally agree. All throughtout my schooling experience I have noticed this. People always following the crowd. Nobody wanting to stand up for whats right and have their own voice. I'm in college now and I dont see it anymore (if anything people are more comfortable expressing themselves here) but it does happen everywhere. I have never been about that. I do my own thing. I have my own voice.

edit: And for people who are mean just because someone else is, that is sooooo stupid, yet I see it all the time mellow.gif Pretty much all I can do is set a positive example.

actually... nice people are respected here too. but i guess there's always the peer pressure. it can't really be helped. it takes a lot of courage to stand up for someone

well, i am quiet and generally keep to my self...
people see in me how much i demand respect
i wear my demands on my sleave that way everyone knows what i want
because of this my quiet, short self...is generally respected...
well, it may also be because a guy tried to ...you know.. and i slapped him right across the face.. but other than that people dont over step my boundries...in fact somtimes i dont think people really know anything about me at all...
well except for my best friend, who i coulv not live with out!
anyway I am blabbing...gotta go bye bye!

i really don't like it. i really have absolutely no respect for anyone who is downright mean to someone for no reason. now, these people can change, which i've seen happen but..ugh. it really makes me mad when people just bow to their every whim cause they're afraid they'll get insulted.

Well really, we all personally don't want to get beat up. But on the other side, we want to help other people, but by doing that, we can get in trouble. In fact, people do stand up for other people these days in my class. We tell the truth to the teachers so the trouble student will get in trouble and get yelled at ! biggrin.gif But i totally agree on what your saying, people who are so nice will often get beaten up because people are jealous of them. cry.gif

Amen. I see it all the time. I'm sorta a nice person, but I'm not really a target to get picked on. It'e toally wrong. People's actions can be for the totally wrong reason.. such as getting on a bad guy's good side. If the guy gets encouragement, he'll continue to torment people.

reminds me of the book "lord of the flies"

it's either you're in, or ur out. people don't want to be ostracized, so they simply join in, even tho it's the wrong thing to do.

how pitiful. i try to stand up for the picked-on tho. seeing as how people sometimes make fun of me. and then i kick their ass and grind their face along the gravel. how fun. whee.

I read the book too. happy.gif

But yes, generally, the people who give off the "gangsta" feeling gets the attention and whatnot. And also, there is the matters of the wannabe "gangstas". I've known then when they were in their daipers and they start trying to be all tough, sagging his pants all the way to his knees, and whatnot. And that friend thinks that being popular is generally more important than other things. But ehhh, whatever. Popular people in my school are jerks. mellow.gif

it's because people these days are so stupid and will do anything in order to fit in -> even if it is the wrong thing to do. it reminds me of the following quote...
QUOTE
The right thing to do might not be popular, but what's popular isn't always right...

or something like that. rolleyes.gif

Gosh. I know what you mean. There's a girl in school who is a complete bitch to everyone, and everyone is so nice to her except me. And i get into all this crap coz i tell her exactly what i think she should go and do with herself instead of treating people badly.. and no one backs me up.

Don't they understand that people can't b mean? That its not right. Don't they understand that she can't do jack if there's more then one person against her!

Its really annoying!

okay that mean person is mean. and she/he has mean friend then right?

people are just nice to her/him because everybody sucks up to her and then she/he supposedly becomes popular.

and all the nice people are just taken advantage of.

right? not right?

Over here (R.D) it dosnt happen as much , Dominicans are considered the friendliest people , we rather make frienmds than have enemies.

Well , I havent really experienced what your telling me but sometimes when their joking about someone , i stand up for that person.
