Yo Fo zhihizzle niggers. Ya'll shoudl definatley check dis out. It tels u all about how 2 prepare for global warming. Written by us niggerz DA union of concered scientests, Also known as U O C S. Peace out, bitches. Global warming is real and under way... The Climate Stewardship Act (CSA) has been reintroduced. Tell your members of Congress to support this crucial measure for the health of our environment. The mainstream scientific consensus on global warming is becoming clearer and more compelling every day: changes in our climate are real and are under way. Now. But we can do something about it. The evidence that human-induced global warming is real cannot be ignored. Consider: * Since the beginning of the 20th century, Earth's mean surface temperature has increased by about 1.1°F (0.6°C). * Over the last 40 years, which is the period with the most reliable data, the temperature increased by about 0.5°F (0.2-0.3°C). * Warming in the 20th century is greater than at any time during the past 400 to 600 years. * related links offsite Global temperature trend chart Seven of the 10 warmest years in the 20th century occurred in the 1990s. In fact, the hottest year since reliable instrumental temperature measurements began was 1998, when global temperatures spiked due to one of the strongest El Niños on record. In addition, changes in the natural environment support the evidence from temperature records. * Mountain glaciers the world over are receding. * The Arctic ice pack has lost about 40 percent of its thickness over the past four decades. * Global sea level is rising about three times faster over the past 100 years compared with the previous 3,000 years. * A growing number of studies show plants and animals changing their range and behavior in response to shifts in climate. ...causing serious disruptions to our environment and lives As Earth continues to warm, there is a growing risk that the climate will change in ways that will seriously disrupt our lives. While on average the globe will get warmer and receive more precipitation, individual regions will experience different climatic changes, with different consequences for the local environment. Among the most severe are: * a faster rise in sea level; * more heat waves and droughts, resulting in more and more conflicts over water resources; * more extreme weather events, producing floods and property destruction; and * a greater potential for heat-related illnesses and deaths, as well as the wider spread of infectious diseases carried by insects and rodents into areas previously free from them. If climatic trends continue unabated, global warming will threaten our health, cities, farms and forests, beaches and wetlands, and other natural habitats. We can take action to reduce the threat Fortunately, we can take action to slow global warming. Global warming results primarily from human activities that release heat-trapping gases and particles into the air. The most important of these activities are the burning of fossil fuels (coal, gas, oil) and deforestation. To reduce the emission of heat-trapping gases such as carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxides, we can curb our consumption of fossil fuels, use technologies that reduce emissions wherever possible, and protect the world’s forests. We can also do things to lessen the impact of global warming and adapt to those consequences most likely to occur (e.g., through careful long-term planning and other strategies that reduce our vulnerability to global warming). Be part of the solution Clearly, global warming is a grave problem. It will take everyone—governments, industry, communities, and individuals—working together to make a real difference. At UCS, we’re working to bring sound scientific information to policy makers and the public to educate them about global warming, its consequences, and practical, available solutions. We’re raising awareness of the need for action and working to create congressional support for sound solutions. But we don’t stop there. We’re also advocating policies that will combat global warming over the long term. Things like clean cars that run on alternative fuels, environmentally responsible renewable energy technologies, and a stop to the clear-cutting of valuable forests. These are solutions that will help reduce global warming, and you can be a part of them. ..I always thought global warming was something everyone knew about, but just didn't really want to 'worry about it'.

i know that this isnt the first time global warming situations occured, and people paniced. people tend to get all panicy about it. my physio teacher said that global warming is a cycle the earth goes through. if you look at the datas throughout the years. it goes up and down continously

my god there are so many holes in tht arguent i am not even going to try to shoot them all down.....
1) climate changes could have to do with any numbe of things including shifting of the teutonic plates.... ( the earth went into an ice age a few million years ago, which scientists belive was preceeded by a period of heat, it's just the way the world goes round 2)the thing about '98 being the hottest year on record was from (get this) "the biggest el Ninos ever" tht had absolutely nothin to do with gasses 3) shifting in teutonic plates causes volcanoes right??? cause of all theholes where maam can get throught the earth's crust ect..... well 1 volcanoe erruption releases more gasses and pollution into the earth's atmosphere than what all of humanity has added so far.... nice little fact from my earth science teacher, and we had mount st helens appx how many years ago?? mmhmmm 4)the change in weather and natural disasters has to do with the atlantc current being thrown off or changed by the increased amount of water.... it would take nearly all of the North pole to melt in order for tht to happen.... there has been no solid scientific evidence showing tht man is in any way responsible for what little, if any global warming is going on, ppl. are blowing things majorly out of proportion.... the problems tht ppl think MIGHT be causing this are being adressed ex. hybrid cars, a new car i saw a design for which runs on hydrogen and the only by product of he reaction is water (yep already made, but not yet on the market, sholuld be in like 10 years and they gonna be 'spensive) there is no reason to freak out...... |

I have an idea, ship the water to Mars and start living there. Try to prevent " the day after tomorrow " on Earth and save more lives.

Is that to say we should do nothing to prevent environment pollution now? QUOTE(ghetosmurph @ Jun 10 2005, 10:05 PM) hybrid cars, a new car i saw a design for which runs on hydrogen and the only by product of he reaction is water (yep already made, but not yet on the market, sholuld be in like 10 years and they gonna be 'spensive) there is no reason to freak out...... Hybrid cars don't run on hydrogen. They are cars that have both a gasoline engine and an electric engine. They take advantage of the fact that once a car gets moving, it really only takes about 20hp to keep it in motion. Therefore, they couple a small gasoline engine (often only 3 cylinders, and about 90hp) with an electric engine. The electric engine is used to help the car accelerate; in this regard, it doesn't greatly increase the horsepower of the gasoline engine, but it puts out a lot of torque to help a car accelerate. Once a hybrid car reaches crusing speed, it uses only the gasoline engine to both continue moving and replenish the batteries for the electric engine. Some hybrid cars also use the electric engine exclusively at low speeds, as well (such as city driving). Many hybrid cars also shut of the gasoline engine when the car is idling (such as at a red light). |

good god...this sh*t again, i was reading about it on a practice english regents
![]() yeah yeah global warming is coming but nobody knows what's really going to happen, everyone just has their theories. scientists have collected data and researched stuff with their models but their models can never be perfect because there are too many things that can happen when global warming occurs. let's just all sit tight and see what happens, because i doubt us dumb ass humans and our big ass gas guzzling cars can do much to prevent it or slow it's course. |
