which state do you think has the highest crime percentage? Remember there's no right or wrong answer..ur educated opinion.. happy.gif i think its georgia because there they have a lot of criminals and poor places..and some places in georgia are known as the "dirty south" and i believe there are "gangsters" and "mobs" there who commit a lot of crimes..i live here in north jersey..and everything's fine..wink.gif

HAHAHAHA GEORGIA. Now that I think about it, there is a lot of crime here... I mean I do live in the county with the most gangs out of the state. Hmm. But even then, it's not that bad, just certain areas. And it's not the "dirty south", trust me. I've been here long enough to know it's all just talk.

I'd think New York would have more, though. Just because of what I've heard about it and everything on TV and movies and stuff. I'd like to go there, nonetheless.

California ... I remember watching this L.A. Bank Shoot Out in class. Freaky thing ... and I hear a lot of weird stuff happening in L.A. and I hear a lot of weird stuff in New York ... but it's just cities in general that have high crime rates because where I live .. no one really lvies here.

Statistically it is Nevada and Louisiana.

http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0922223.html

Honestly though I think its California because they have Compton.

Like Chris Tucker said in Rush Hour 2

Haha, I do. :P
I am not surprised that it is the safest... There are only one or two 'mysterious' deaths in my town a year. Hardly any crime. Barely any drugs. They don't even enforce the curfew for kids here. It's pretty safe.

Anyway... New York, maybe.

i actually meant the stuff he wrote about georgia. its not all the "dirty south." even in south georgia where i have reletives, theres and even lower crime rate. yes, there is crime in the city, and there is gang violence, and at times stupid acts of bored suburban kids, but the way he wrote it wasnt even close to being accurate. i didnt have time to type that up, i was trying to be discreet since it was late at night

I think when people think of New York, they think of New York City as opposed to the state as a whole..the western part (of the state) is pretty safe. I used to visit my grandma every year and I don't remember hearing bad stuff happening.

Wow ok. Yeah, New York does have a lot of crime, but I wouldn't say that it's got the highest crime rate. In fact, the crime rate has gone down the past year here (NYC)... Sure, there are some dangerous neighborhoods, which are exemplified in the movies, books, etc, but don't all states?

yeah...new york isnt as bad as people make it out to be. i guess people think that because of queens, brooklyn, and harlem ---people sterotype new york as being a crime city. oh well..most of the people that say new york haven't even been there!

based on the statistics given above, new york is #32 while california is #10.

I lived in what is commonly referred to as the "hood" growing up. I go back to the "hood" every chance I get to see family and friends. (Riverside, Wilmington, Delaware. See: www.delawareonline.com)

My dad has gotten multiple promotions since then and we've moved to upper white middle class neighborhoods in the Tampa Bay area and now San Antonio, Texas.

I see more crime in the burbs. I promise you, it gets ugly.

Umm. I picked New York.
You would think that they would have the highest crime rate because it's such a big city. Plus the fact that there are a lot of homeless people.
So yah.

Maybe Georgia would though.
Don't they have a lot of racial segregation over there?

Little Rock, Arkansas had the highest homicide rate in 01, I believe.

It was nicknamed 'Compton of the South' because of all the Crips and Bloods.

Don't they have a lot of racial segregation over there?

mellow.gif People still believe that? That was waaay back then.

It's funny that you think Georgia is all violent because it's called the "Dirty South", Jason. It's really not that bad here. mellow.gif Most of that "dirty south" talk is crap.

Mmm. Maybe New York.

Believe it or not, masachusetts is BAD! I live in a nice littel neighborhood on the beach, but like, when u leave my neighborhood, and go 2 miles down the road, it is GHETTO. In the newspaper, the city of New Bedford (the ghetto city right near where i live) had the highese rate of heroine atticts. Also on the streets in newbedford u see littel kid smoking weed, and like people iwth guns. ITS BADD. Adn you know there is major drugs when you are driving by newbedford and see a Cadillac escalde with like 2 16 year olds in it.

Thakx god i odont live in newbedford, but i only like about 10 minutes away. My neighborhood is the toatal opposite.

it still cracks me up that people pick GA. we may have a pretty high rate for stupidity right now (a la the runaway bride) but not really crime. the only big crime we've had was that ashley smith thing, and there was no logical reason for that to become a national story

I say new york just because theres enough crime that they can make 5000000000 law and order/csi shows about crime in new york.

I'm not a dumbass because I voted for Illinois. I voted for Illinois because I used to live there, and there was always something on the news about somebody doing a crime. I voted because of EXPERIENCE. stubborn.gif

Yeah, New York does have a high crime rate.  Why?  I think because it has alot of people, popular city, etc...  You know.
*

not neccasrily , crime rates are determined by the number of reports the police have sent to city officials ...and honestly ....i dont think nyc has the highest crime rate as it did during the 90`s .....Cop presence has been extensive ...and because of that there havent been that much .....but that doesnt make nyc not the "top 5"

i would have to say :

1 . Detroit (Lack of Police Presence)
2. Cali (same in the burbs Cops just dont care )
3. NYC i would say alot of crimes around the outer bouroughs but not manhatten itself , only illegal produced items in Canal Street wink.gif

seriously. a lot of my friends are black. and as it happens, the black kids are more likely to puch the white kids out of the way, but that's still not segregation

I don't know about the percentage but i can tell you what the most dangerous state of 2005 is tongue.gif . http://www.morganquitno.com/dang05.htm This link show the most dangerous state from 1-50. 1 being the most dangerous and 50 being the safest lol. I didn't think Nevada would be #1 for most dangerous but like I said Louisiana is really bad and its #2. Louisiana also has the highest murder rate in the United States. I hope this helped a little happy.gif .

I can't believe Arizona is not listed. We are just forgotten here in Arizona. I know for a fact that Arizona is the 3rd highest, and the highest to get your car stolen in.
