it doesn't really hurt or anything.. you'll get used to it, tampons are 999% better then pads though, especially in the summer..since its hot, ewiee your pad is going to be sweaty, they are like,..big..*shivers*

the only way tampons will ever hurt is if you put them in wrong, it's not hard, just read the instructions.

I use tampax mini with cardboard applicator. They're really easy to put in and I recommend them for begginers because sticking a finger up there can feel uncomfortable.
It might be hurting when you put them in because you're ROLLING IT AROUND (If it's a non-applicator tampon)! NEVER EVR DO THIS! You're rolling around something dry on your muscle. It hurts like HELL! Just push it in softly with yor finger!
It might be hurting when you take it out because it's not soaked up enough. If when you take it out it hurts and there are still white bits, next time leave it for longer and then when you remove it it will just slide out softly.

Hope I Helped!
SARA

first time is always hard, but once you get used to it, it really is ALOT better than pads. before i started using tampons, i did alot of research on beinggirl.com, and they even have me free samples. researching tampons before i used them really helped calm down my worries, etc.

^^ yup, i agree. i read the whole box and the instructions and the warnings about TSS. so make sure you do that first. the first time i tried it was in 9th grade and omg, it hurt! then i didnt touch it for like another year. then i tried it again in 11th grade and i was like "hey! this isnt so bad! as long as you get used to it." i finally realized why it hurt so much the first time. i didnt put it all the way in. haha. so now its all i use. except for when i go to sleep of course. :D

I don't like tampons, I like pads better. Not all pads are bulky and feel like diapers.

http://www.beinggirl.com/en_US/pages/goods_tampinsert.jsp

that has a lot of good information.. and all around that site has good stuff. i just started using tampons.. when i first tried it felt really uncomfortable like you said a stick up your __.. but then i realized it was because i didnt push it up far enough. read some stuff on there and try again.. you'll be fine. i totally agree that they are so much better than pads.. you dont feel them and i never get leaks biggrin.gif

i like tampons better than pads. but if its your first time, i suggest using one of those kotex lightdays, those really thin pads, with your tampon just in case you put the tampon in wrong and you leak.
it shouldnt leak or hurt if you put it in right, though.

teen satin's pretty good... tampax pearls are great, too. just get the light ones.

but idk. it's all based on personal preference.

I suggest you read the instructions throughly. Matter of fact, read everything since its your first time. You want to understand what your using.
