BitTorrent is a network of file exchanges in which speeds can reach up to 500 kbps. I was wondering which clients you guys use, such as Azureus, BitComet, BitTornado, etc.

Does anyone recommend Bitcomet or Azureus? Also, can this do any damage to your computer when you download at high speeds? Because I read that it could edit your read/write frequency to prevent hard drive damage... and I don't want it to do that. I think that's only if it's over 500 kbps, though.

Hard drives can generally read/write data faster than you can download data, so you shouldn't have a problem.

I use Azureus, but I used to stick with the original BitTorrent just because of the extra 5 second loading time it took for Azureus...until I later realized that the amount of time I spent resuming separate torrent files surpassed Azureus' loading time..so yea.

Azureus was faster, but after a few days it had done some irreparable damage....

so I use bitcomet and now cry about how I don't get 700 connections anymore

but it has its own webbrowser for d/ling torrents!

i use the normal one. no client. my max kbs was 100 or so. But now it's 50 because i'm connected through a router. I forwarded ports, but it's still slow. Is there a way to make it faster. I heard my friends goes up to 300kbs and he is connected through router also.

For linux i use azureus as it is java. For windows, I'd use bitspirit, you can change a lot of custom settings to get 200k+/s on a broadband connection
