okay, I've been wanting to play guitar for a while and my father gave me his acoustic. Well, I don't really know how to play, so do you guys know any sites that could help me. Show me the chords and maybe some basic songs. Anything to help me to get started would be nice. Thanks.

Here's some sites for your learning:
http://www.betterguitar.com/Instruction/Ba...asicsIndex.html

http://guitar.about.com/library/blguitarlessonarchive.htm

And here, you can find taps on some of your favorite songs:
http://www.guitartabs.cc/

Enjoy!

Ooh! Nice links, Dean. :)

I realize you said sites, but there are a few good magazines out there..
I really like GuitarOne. GuitarWorld is good, too, but I find GuitarOne to be more helpful when learning.

Sometimes I go to Ultimate-Guitar and post on there and look around at their stuff.. It's been helpful.

GuitarTips is pretty good from what I've seen, too.

GuitarPrinciples is pretty good too. I haven't been there for a while though.

And CyberFret is pretty good from what I remember.

Sorry if some aren't helpful.. I was just going through my bookmarks. :P

I hope those help.

I'm learning to play the guitar and am always on the lookout for sites to help me. Those links were great! I wanted to pass along a site I found that has a few basic videos showing how toplay the guitar I'm not sure if you're interested in how to videos, but I found these useful when I was just starting out.

My friend does, its costs some money, but its easier to learn that way rather be stuck by yourself.
