I hate when people say I act black just because I wear "urban" clothes. Especially people here in cb. Also, kids in my school. They're just f**king ignorant. Dont you agree that everyone can wear what they want? I mean..theyre just clothes..CLOTHES..u can wear anything u want that keeps u from naked..Just because i wear roca wear and ecko every day dosent mean im trying to be gangsta. It's like making fun of a black guy wearing abercrombie trying to act prep. This is just wrong. People do what they want. wear what they want. Period. whistling.gif

Okay, thanks for sharing.

People are ALWAYS going to label and stereotype, whether they're doing it to people, music, clothing, or whatever. People are ALWAYS going to label and stereotype.

You may not like it, but you can't exactly change it.
Just get over what people say. Don't let it get to you or bother you.

Exactly. I know a lot of people that love to dress completely opposite from their personalities. None of them are fake, they just like a different style than you would assume. Goodness, people today are so ignorant to everything around them.

It's because of what you wear that those types of stereotypes develop. If you wear Rocawaer/Ecko, then you're a gangsters wanna-be. If you wear A&F and Hollister, then you're preppy. If you wear Alexisonfire or Atticus or whatever, then you're....gothic (it's not exactly gothic, but I don't know the word to describe it). It's always going to be there. Some people are just too judgemental. Just ignore it.

well your appearance does reflect part of your personality. but that does not justify some one saying "you act black" or whatever, unless they were joking

Yes I think stereotypes are incredibly stupid. I mean you can't wear anything without being called a poser or gangster or preppy or whatever. Just ignore them, they're idiots.

I hate when people do that.
But I have learned to ignore their stupid comments.
Those kind of peoples don't know anything so I or anyone else shouldn't be affect by it.
It's never going to go away so it's best just to let it go and ignore it.

Dude... It's also if you act "gangster." You know, people on cB only THINK you act gangster because you say you're one.. "OMG I'm kangsta" it makes you seem like one. "In style," you say? Do you also wear bandanas and stuff? Just wondering... whistling.gif

It's not so much about how you dress, but more about how you carry yourself upon others. Especially if you go overboard with it.

well first of all; rocawear&ecko are kinda "gangsta" clothes. so yeah, you sorta are trying to be gangsta, with all the raps that you make, and saying you're "kangsta".

but anyways, sterotype happens all the time. there's no stopping it. the best you can do is ignore it.

It'll always happen and i hate it. (who doesnt) Hell, in my school people even categorize the place people hang out. It's so stupid. One place, 'K-town' other place 'P-town'. its just human nature to hang out with your own ethnicity, and other people tend to label that. I really think its dumb. A person in my school, whenever he passes where me and my friends hang out, he claps his hand and squints his eyes, and says 'konichiwa'. It pisses me off. pisses my friends off. but we cant stop it. It'll always happen. and even if we do stop it. There'll be more people coming. Its an unending chain.

Bleh, there is nothing to prevent it. It's just part of human nature. Stereotyping has always been here and always will. We can't really do anything about it in general.

What.. how the heck do we even know what type of clothes you wear? It's human nature. Judging someone by their appearance is not really wrong.. it's something that everyone does, even you.

if you call yourself "kangsta" then, people obviously think of you as gangster/black-wannabe. and if you don't like people stereotyping you, you can either just ignore it, or prove them wrong, even though in your case, you can't really prove them wrong.

Who could resist the wonder that is Nicki? hug.gif innocent.gif

People do stereotype me, though. For instance, I go to a very "ghetto" school. Well, other "preppy/white" schools call it ghetto because Caucasians are not the main ethnicity. I walked by a group of "ghetto" people, and they start mocking me singing that old song that goes like, "I like girls who wear Abercrombie and Fitch *laugh*". It bothered me for a while, but whatever.

there are always going to be people judging you.
it's frustrating i know.
from what I've observed, you are a very innocent looking kid, and you wear these "gangsta-looking" cloth, it just doesn't suit you too well. that's why a lot of people may think you are a wannabe.

Jason, you complain that people are accusing you of acting "black," yet you call yourself a "kangsta" and you write raps.

^ Totally agreed. You say you're not trying to be gangsta or black, but yet you still call yourself the Kangsta and all that crap. Rap is originally from blacks, so believe it or not, it's easy for people to come to the conclusion that you're trying to be black. All I can say though is be yourself. _dry.gif
