It should be something not too hard (i.e. Celine Dion, Whitney Houston) but not something that's totally easy (i.e. Ashlee Simpson, Hilary Duff). And it all depends on if you're a soprano or an alto.

Anything by Christina Aguilera. Those songs really bring out a good voice.

Whatever you do do not do Rich Girl- Gwen Stefani

Dreams by Fleetwood Mac (Stevie Nicks on lead vocal)

Beautiful by Xitina

Stay With Me Till Dawn by Judie Tzuke

Borderline by Madonna

Nothing Compares 2 U by Sinead O'Conner

any tune by Kylie!!

Forget about all this restrictive Soprano/Alto crap. You know what you can sing.

Just try a range of vocal styles to find whats right for you. Those I mentioned are all classics in their own right (apart from Kylie, but the vocal requirements are simple). All can easily be downloaded using any P2P program.

Good luck!

NOT kelly clarkson. she's obnoxious and sickening. of course that could just be me..someone said skye sweetnam. her songs are cute and easy. i really love rock, but that's probably not the best to sing for a contest. something easy so you can perfect it.
