So where's a good place to buy formal clothes?

I have a special assembly to go to for school and it's supposed to be formal. I'm going for a nice shirt, tank, and dress pants (or maybe nice skirt). I don't like dresses much. And I don't want to pay a lot (I only have $40 to spend right now). So any ideas?

PSH. you can't buy jack shyt with 40$ at nordstrom.

I'd say for you to go to Marshalls, Ross, or TJmaxx. They have a lot of really nice things there for really cheap. =]

depends on where you live. i know in massachusetts, there's a cheap store called deb but they have pretty nice formal stuff. i'm not sure if they have that in the west coast or whatever.
