i got a scroll bar that would work with my site by editing an entryblog. i got this
<div style="width: 150; height: 50; overflow: auto"><font size=1 face=arial><center> Type text here, if it gets long enough it will scroll just like thiiis </center></div></td>
<td width=150 height=135></td></tr><tr><td width=400 height=1 colspan=3></td></tr></table>

but my problem is that when i enter in the html in the text area (i want it to show up as text to be copy & pasted, not actualy work), the background that i made the html gets put into the page. how can i add the html i want to put out as a text in the scroll bar?

Do you mean you want an area to put HTML? You have to use the text area code.

CODE
<TEXTAREA cols=40 rows=10>
YOUR HTML HERE
</TEXTAREA>

You can replace the 40 and 10 with your own numbers. 'Cols' makes it wider or skinner, and 'rows' makes it longer or shorter.

.... Okay, if that doesn't work you've got something going on, 'cause thats a very basic code.
Mayhap you should try validating your code? Mmm... And giving a link so people can see if something is wrong.

Easy...? Okay.... I must recommend these places ::
[ http://www.freewebs.com ]
[ http://www.geocities.com ]
Hm, it also might pay to look through these ones ::

Oh, and maybe also check through the Big Book of Resources' free hosting section.
