Linear equations

So, when I searched on google for linear equations, the explainations were very difficult to understand. Hopefully, you will provide me with an easier understanding of them.

Also, would this count as a linear equation?

I dunno if I'm right but

Cross Multiply=4xY and 3times X
4y+3x=-5

move the 3x over

divide by four to get the y alone

Then graph it...and see if it ameks a straight line

edit// I graphed it and the answer is YES it is a linear equation..

Yeah, that's a linear equation. You just solve for y to put it in the
y = mx + b form to determine. If there is no exponent for the x variable, then it's a linear equation.
