ok, im a bit tired of hearing about the same things on this forum over and over again so i thought id do something a little different.

What do you all feel is the best way to totally screw up a relationship? It doesnt even have to be the best way to screw it up, just things that you know will make it so it wont last. ex.: lying and not trusting each other, not communicating, etc.

losing someone's trust and lying are the biggest issues...for a break up

being disrespectful can cause break ups, and being two faced.

i hate people who are two faced _dry.gif

saying to their face how much you hate them. talking behind their backs and telling the person you talked to to tell the person what you said. being mean. hitting, kicking, smacking, threatening. just stop talking to them.

Heres one that a lot of people dont think about. Over analyzing can kill a relationship. calling everyday asking if someone is mad, or why do you love me, or do you think we will last. then if they dont neccesarily give the answer you expect, fights come out of it. I know, cuz I used to do it. Not intentionally, I just had really low self esteem and thought everyone liked me cuz they felt sorry for me. So yeah. Thats a great way to lose someone.</sarcasm>

Losing trust. That encompasses cheating, lying, ect. because they all have to do with a person's trust in you to stay true to them.

never had a bf but i can answer this talking about me and one of my really really close guy friends...

we used to be really close...almost like brother and sister

and what messed it up was dishonesty i think ... and he was acting like an ahole, i was acting like a bitch. to sum it up. *sigh*

i really miss him as a friend though...we still talk occasionally but spend more time yelling at each other sad.gif

although in a bf/gf relationship, basically the same thing. disloyalty; dishonesty. cheating; being an ahole/bitch.

This is right. I would have to agree with you on that one. That and not paying attention when they are trying to bring up something that seems important to them at the time they are trying to discuss it. Or you have the feeling that you have to compete for their attention when they come to visit.

All those are 'good' ways, but they are symptoms, not causes. I'd say the supreme cause is poor communication-that is: insincerity, dishonesty, not being forthright (bringing up something that's bothering you rather than waiting to be asked what's bothering you) and nagging.

Think about it.

If someone cheats on you, the problem is they were unsatisfied for some reason, or they had an impulse they were unwilling to let you know about and they acted on it. Prevention:
--'Sweetie, I've been feeling attracted to X'
Sweetie: 'Why is that?'
--'Because she/he seems mysterious.'
Sweetie: 'Well, what do you think might add some mystery to our relationship, roleplaying? frequency? positions?'
--'Hmmm, roleplaying sounds interesting, let's talk about that.' Conversation proceeds from there, situation averted.

If someone abuses you, the problem can be that they have emotional damage from a previous relationship. However, this should never escalate to physical violence, emotional and verbal violence is bad enough. When a relationship reaches the stage when the two involved cannot discuss an issue or problem reasonably and respectfully, then it is time to talk about why, and if that doesn't happen, then time to terminate the relationship.

And so on and so on.

Cheating is a way, but I don't think that appropriate. Just tell it straight to them, "I don't want to be with you anymore." It depends also, how much you hate them.

The best way to screw a relationship up is to sleep with her best friend, or in my ex's case, her twin sister. Did I do it? No, I'm not that kind of person. But my ex's twin sister came onto me about a dozen times and I respectfully pushed her away. Still, if I had done that, I would've thrown 2 years down the tubes.

At least I'd be keeping it "all in the family."

well, the best way to screw up a relationship would be to cheat on that person lol. plain and simple. If you guys don't have good communication skills, or hide stuff from each other. Yah that's not good. No lying, cheating, or abusing boyfriends. They are a def no no!

I'd say cheating on them, I don't see the point of it. If you want to be with someone else then just break up with the person, don't fool them like that.
