ok, help me out here. asian girls are cursed with incredibly thick hair. like myself. but its midlenght, as in shoulder length. i HATE being straight all the time, and i can never curl my hair right so that it stays or looks decent.
i wish i could scrunch my hair, but it just looks like a pile of mess. any tips on how to get thick straight hair wavy, curls, or scrunched? |

Or go get your hair done? I dunno, I someones wanna curl my hair, but it's japanese straightened (chemically) so it messes it up if i wanna curl it (but its coming out anyway). 3) Good luck finding a way, if the curler doesn't work for you. |

After I wash my hair, and while it's still damp, I divide my hair into 3 sections and braid them. I let them dry overnight then when I wake up in the morning, I spray a little hair spray before I take the braids out. Once I take the braids out, I tousle the waves with my fingers for seperation, then spray some more hair spray to hold the style. And that's pretty much it and it should last you all day.

I have seen others with straight hair get it curly, or at least wavy, using braids. As others mentioned here, braid it when it is wet. Another hint, the smaller the braids the tighter the curl or wave. Depending on how much time you want to devote to this, put in as many braids as you can handle doing in your time frame. The more often you try this technique, the faster you will get at it. also be sure to do what the other poster suggested, use the hairspray! It will help you keep your style longer.

use garnier fructics surf hair if you want like gentle non-matte waves. put a small SMALL amount in your wet hair (it sort of gunks it up so only use what is absolutely needed) and scrunch or let dry in a bun. my hair won't dry wavy except with that stuff!

You need at least some natural wave/curl to "scrunch" it. Otherwise, you're stuck with braiding or curling irons.

Er ... Actually asians are cursed with incredibly thin hair. It's the lucky ones who get hair with body and voluime such as the one you are complaining about.
If you want curls/waves/scrunches theres different ways to do it. The way I do mines is 1. Assemble mousse and scrunching gels or creams. 2. flip hair over and work mousse into your hair, scrunching with your hands as work in the mousse. take a little bit of holding hairspray and lightly spray just to keep it in place 3. flip hair back into upright normal position and work scrunchel gel/cream into your roots and in the outermost parts of your hair. scrunch all over hairspray lightly and Yay. Scrunched hair. Another way. Get it cornrowed/braided. Leave them on overnight, take them out in the morning and you have really wavy tresses throughout the day. Another way. Perm. And one last way Curling iron. |
