Okay...heres the thing....i'm in 8th grade and the year is comming to an end, and i dont know waht to do about next year...but it's kinda hard to explain

see...the year before (in 7th grade) i was totally into the whole pop punk scene and i loved to look like all the "kool punk rockers" i chopped my beautiful shoulder length brown hair off into my spikes and traded my belly shirts and hip huggers for baggy jeans and "bondage pants"...concert/band tees because my obbsesion...and i loved my style...i never called myself a punk, but every else did and they call started called me a poser...and it eventually got to me...

so by the time 7th grade ended and 8th grade rolled around i kept the chains and black clothes in the closet and on the shevles! i became the person all the people wanted me to be and would accpet me for!! i was a cheerleader in 7th and 8th grade and i will be a cheerleader for my fresman year as well....but anyways....i put my old low risers back on and started acting like the "preppy popular cheerleader" wannabe that they thought was right for me to be....and i eventually got use to it and settled into it, not thinking of being ture to myself...
I still kept my old pop punk albums...but i also started "busting a move" to the hip hop stuff all the other gurls listened to...

another reason for all my change was that "punk" was now the "in thing" to be/do/ listen to...and i was sick of the preppy people stealing the image of what "punks" stood for. i saw it in all the preppy stores and more and more popular drama queens and quarterbacks made it look sooooo kool....it literally made me gag....so i figured i would stop being who i loved to be so that i wouldnt look like a follower or be blamed for being fake...

so...now as my 8th grade year is comming to an end and my freshman year will start sooner than i know it...i'm torn between my duel personalites....

i dont know if i should go back to my pop punk roots or if i should continue to hide behind my image of the all american cheerleader...i really really really deep inside want to go back to the old heather who i really knew and wasnt afraid of being "all punked out"....yet then again, i dont want to be called another steriotype or a trader (i would loose alot of my friends to this...who i'm sure are only using me anyways)

i know this sounds almost like i'm already decided what i want to do...but to tell you the truth i'm almost scared out of my mind....and i dont want to break the steriotypes more than i have to...

theres a lot more to this than what i'm posting above....and i want to get some of your oppinions on what to do with my future....

it would be nice to get some posative and neggitive feedback from this...

thanks so much for reading this all

Don't let other people's judgement sway you one way or the other. It's hard to show sa different side that people aren't used to seeing, but if that's the side you are comfortable with, don't fret. Remember, you can't satisfy everyone. So just for for making yourself happy. If trning back into the punk style is more comfortable, then do it. Who cares what everyone wants you to be? Ine the end, it's not their decision; it's yours. And you'll have to live with whatever you choose.

you should always wear what you feel most comfortable in and always ALWAYS stay true to yourself. not just dress like something else because people would only accept you like that.

thanks os much for your opinions on my situation....and i do agree about wearing waht is most comfertable and being who i want to be....but also the factor of money comes into play....i know that being preppy and punk both have their expences and to tell you the truth...my family doesnt really have a money at all the spare me a whole new wardrob...

i know it would be easy for me to just go to some thrift shops and pick out some really grundgy stuff and go back to the only me
but its almost easier to just keep the cloths that are already in my closet there....

well if these people are your "friends" then they're not even worth it.. or maybe you can try talking to them cuz they may just be scared to lose you.. and if inside you KNOW who you want to be, then why not go with that? screw what everyone else's say.. they're just jealous

Be who you want. Dressing punk doesn't make you a poser at all that's just stupid. If you want to be preppy, be preppy. If you want to be punk, be punk. Other people's opinions really shouldn't matter.

ture...but you dont know my "friends"...they'll tare you apart and make you feel like crap and the next day it will be perfect and "nothing ever happened"

so if i change i have to deal with the fact that i probably will loose all my friends or be bothered for the rest of my life because i "changed over the summer"

well honestly, those friends werent worth having in the beginning. be yourself, and find new, true, real ones. and just don't listen to and ignore whoever calls you a poser. because it's who you really are. i dont think there's a true way to 'be' punk. are you going to a new school for 9th grade? if you are, it'd be easier because you'd be making sort of a fresh start.

hope it helped happy.gif

I think you should always stay true to yourself. You shouldn't give up your personality and hide it just because of what people around you say. Be yourself, and make friends that love you for who you are. Not what you try to be. Give up your facade and be who you are meant to be.

Be who you want to be. That's a part of being true to yourself. Don't give in to peer pressure. Just dress how you want to dress.

be who you want to be.
think about it, why'd you become prep? to be accepted. but you know what, to be blunt, you do sound like a poser. you know why? because you're posing as a prep, and you don't know how you want to dress. you dress a certain way because you want to be accepted. you're afraid of going back to your old way because you won't be accepted. stop being wishywashy. choose who you want to be and stick with it.

sterotypes will exist no matter what you choose. Whether its to be the cheerleader or the punk rock girl. What matters is how you feel deep inside, I know this sounds so clique but really you should do what makes you happy. Because once you graduated from school, what people thought of you while your were in school will no matter, trust me. You need to do you and make no apologies for it.

You are completely following the labled! YOu seem to think that by being who you are...a "punk"..you HAVE TO follow what "punks" steroptypically do. Obviously, you seem to be drawn by peer pressure.

What I suggest...don't be a "PREP" dont be a "PUNK". Be Heather. Keep you're hair the way YOU want it. Wear black clothes and pom poms if YOU want it. There is nothing better and more respected then individuality. A lot of people claim that being a "PUNK" is individuality. But it's not. Be you and you'll be respected. Because if you keep following the crowd, and the trends you won't be called anyhting but a poser.

Btw--I'm in 8th grade and a cheerleader now myself _smile.gif

So I hope htings work out for you.

First off-NO LABELS!!! And if you want to be punk-ish go ahead and be punk-ish. If your friends don't like that, then they were never friends to begin with.

yeah...thanks so much...and i think i'll probably go back to my old roots and spice it up a little bit

You can be some of both. It sounds like you like cheerleading and punkness. I know what you're going through because my friends look at me as like a prep and stuff but I have like the laid back side too. I guess I've learned a lot about myself this year and once I figured out exactly what I wanted, it was easier to follow that.
