![]() uhh QUOTE Introduction Macromedia Dreamweaver is a powerful WYSIWYG site building tool, one just as respected for what it does do as what it doesn't. What it does offer is an intuitive environment for building cross-platform sites. What it doesn't do is alter existing HTML by inserting esoteric tags that add nothing but weight. Dreamweaver is a favorite of multimedia designers, since it easily integrates with other Macromedia applications, like Flash and Shockwave. It's probably a less popular choice for small staffs or corporate sites, since it doesn't come with a library of Web-ready graphics, like FrontPage and NetObjects does. This tutorial will start off by guiding you through the first steps of building a site with Dreamweaver. Next, we'll look at more advanced elements, like adding media and remotely managing a site. This tutorial focuses on Dreamweaver 3, so if you're using an earlier version, you'll find that some of the features discussed are not available. I copied that from a website found here http://www.intranetjournal.com/articles/20...ream_index.html hope that helps |

Hm....does this help also:
QUOTE Dreamweaver allows you to pick most browsers installed on your computer to preview websites. It also has some nice site management tools for the novice, such as the ability to find and replace lines of text or code by whatever parameters you specify, up to the entire site. The behaviors panel also allows creation of basic javascript without any coding knowledge. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dreamweaver Aha, but the site aznpeacemaker looks informative too :-D |

Basically you code pages in dreamweaver. I personally find it to be rather cumbersome because, at least on the school's Macs, it doesn't allow you to openly edit the source. I think the teacher disabled that option. Dreamweaver is really more for novices and lazy people than experienced designers... And people who can't create tables. o.O
I don't believe it supports PHP creation yet, nor external CSS. You can pretty much only use it for creation of HTML, DHTML, and XHTML pages. From there, it's fairly easy to convert to PHP... So yeah. The only thing I ever used it for in class was a table which had to hold a bunch of iFrames because that was the way they wanted the page to be designed. |
