My big brother just got married. He and I have a 14 year age difference, he's never lived in my house (half-brother), but whenever I get the chance to talk to him he's a really great guy. I want to get to know him better (I've wanted to for a while). My mom said to just call him or send him an e-mail, but he just got married and I don't know if he has time for me. I don't want to annoy him and what if he think's it is weird? What do you think, should I give him a call/e-mail or no?

send him a fruit basket and a little dwarf that will sing and dance a telegram to him.
that'd be pretty damn cool... i'd say just send him an email or whatever. get to know him a little better, then call him. one step at a time, ya kno? |

If you really want to get to know him, just ring him up. There is no harm in it. and plus, family calls are sometimes rare.
Who knows, you guys might get close and he could drive you to someplaces.

you should probably just e-mail him if you're shy but it doesn't seem like you are but you should probably do that. since he just got married he probably doesn't have a lot of time to answer phone calls...or if you just visit him out of nowhere that's kind of odd and you know newlyweds he's probably doing stuff with his new wife.
my half brother is 17 years older than i am and my other one is more than 17 years older than me, they're nice people but i'm way too shy to talk to them  |

I was way too shy to talk to him too when I was younger. Actually he lives some hours away from me, but he's visiting this summer and he and his wife might move to a place around where I live. It would be pretty cool but hey marriage brings changes. But that's another thing that I'm worried about. How much will he change? I guess that all depends on him.
to chii: actually my brother made the first attempt to talk to me when he visited a few years ago. He knew I'd always hide behind trees or play places when he came over and my best friend was like "why are you so shy he's your brother?" then one day he asked me if I wanted to go for a ride in his new car and the shyness melted away. When your brother's are around, if they don't look busy, just offer to do something with them. See if they want to go out for ice cream or something. |

Of course talk to him And you should tell him that you have an interest in you two getting to spend some quality time together. Also get to know his wife, since she is a essential part of his life. Little things like random telephone call and emails go a long way in bringing a relationship closer.

I suggest you opt for e-mailing at first, seeing that you're nervous/shy about it. Then after you e-mail him for a while, then maybe you should call him. *shrugs* It'd be nice to get to know him.

  thats always really fun. i'm sure he'd love to. and his wife should understand too. just ask him whenever he has extra time.
