You can contact me via AIM if you want help with visual styles. It's pretty hard to explain. And I got to go through things that aren't allowed on these forums.

there are ways to change it (for free) without using cracked software.

windowsblinds can change your GUI. it causes a bit of instability with explorer, but that's just a little.

it has a nag screen every time it starts up, but that's no big.

Yea, I got Windowblinds. I prefer it over StyleXP.
Windowblinds skinners are a lot better than the StyleXP guys. Heh, the StyleXP guys got some free website while the Windowblinds guys got a professional one (if you know what I mean).
I got the registered version so I don't get the load up advertisement. For me, it doesn't really cause too much instability with explorer. But, that's just me.

This is for the person who made this topic. Your problem probably is that you don't have some kind of software that supports custom visual styles. Considering that you have a theme, I'm assuming you got your visual style off of Themexp.org. You need to download StyleXP for the visual style to work. You should check out stardock.com. They have multi-purpose software such as Windowblinds, ObjectDock, and a lot of other useful programs. But, thats just a suggestion. happy.gif If you need any help, once again, feel free to contact me via AIM.

No, you don't need StyleXP to use visual styles, you can use patched Uxtheme.DLLs. Allthatglitterss I suggest you see if any other visual styles will work anymore... and also. if you have any programs such as WindowBlinds, try removing it, then setting the visual style.

Yeah I tried another theme..it's still not working. Everyone else said they just double-clicked the icon, and it applied the theme. Grr.

Haha I ran the patch once, I don't think it even worked.. lol. I couldn't set any skins, I needed WindowBlinds... I should have been able to use visual styles without it.

Edit:// Haha, this is going to sound stupid but: Did you read the ReadMe? Maybe it had specific directions.

They have a link to a prehacked Uxtheme.dll... lol. But you said you have StyleXP already, so that shouldn't be necessary. I honestly don't know what's wrong. So, the way I take it, StyleXP themes and Visual Styles won't apply?

Um, on the screenshot, did you try going to Browse on the display options screen? If it's a normal theme, it should work. Maybe.

Just trying to help!

Yeah I tried going to browse, but it only accepts .theme files. I tried renaming the file extensions from .msstyles to .theme as well, but it said the file was not valid.
