So it's midnight and I should be sleeping because I have a gigantic test tomorrow. A magical test that will determine my whole future. A magical test I like to call a standardized test. A standardized test known in the state of Texas as TAKS. Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills.

I'm thinking I've come to a conclusion about this said TAKS.

It really sucks.

Discuss.

I'm sure at least a few of you out there are taking it. Or am I the only one not sleeping? And I'm sure they have different kinds in different states, right? Or does Texas just completely suck?

Ours starts tomorrow.. English. I have no idea how I'm going to prepare for English. But I'll try sleeping early tonight.
And Wednesday is Math. Thursday is Science.
I remember last year, on the first day of testing.. I couldn't sleep at all. Went to bed at 9, stayed up for the whole entire night. I think I was actually worried.

UGH!! Taks. stupid stupid stupid!! I'm one of the lucky ones tho. Because I was a Junior when they did the practice test, I didnt go. But we spent the whole year prepping for it. So dumb. I wish they would spend more money on keeping texas clean and lowering the traffic and less on those stupid tests. I mean, the firggin 1st graders have to take it now, dont they??

STUPID.

Texas has the dumbest standarised testing thing. What the hell. Its like, too many people passed TAAS so we have to make it harder. I would think thats a good think that more people are passing it. It means we have more smart people. grr. Stupid test!

Oh, and even tho other people have to take it, Texas does suck. Our education system is hell. They are morons. If I wasnt going to be a singer, I would go into polotics and tell the bastards how wrong they are doing EVERYTHING.

Well, I'm a senior so, I don't have any more standardized test to take..

But in Ohio, they have OGT (Ohio Graduation Test) which is new, and I didn't have to take it. I had to take the Proficincy Test, but its all cool .

i'm so glad i don't have to take those stupid standerized test anymore. however, the underclassmen [freshmens to juniors], are taking them next week. us seniors get to stay home all morning, and just come back to school after lunch for class.

when i lived in washington we had to take the wasl in 7th grade. i'm not in washington for 10th grade so i dont have to take that one.

umm..here in tennessee we take the TCAP or terranova (whatever u want to call it) every year but, you dont have to pass to move to the next grade (not that i know of)

in tennessee we have to pass 3 tests to graduate. The Gateways. you take an algebra 1 one after you finish that class, an biology after that class, and an english 2 one after 10th grade english.

I don't see what the fuss is all about. Standardized tests in school are so easy, especially when it determines whether or not you pass a grade.

Well, the regent are easy hah.
But, I think middle school kids take standarized tests in NY, other than the regents, which high school kids take. My sister took some test last week...

The CAT6. stubborn.gif

I hate it b/c of the fact that i'm in 8th grade and now they have science and history. we gotta remember all the science/history from 6th, 7th, and this year. I didn't learn that much history in 6th grade b/c my humanaties teacher didn't teach us that much. same to science. science teacher this year crammed all the science stuff we gotta do this year since she did like half of the year on space. now it's like every week, we learn something different from a different subject in science. mad.gif .

Let's fail. whistling.gif

you live in washington state too? that's interesting. i live there too. and yea we take wasl test when we're 10th graders. but im in 11th grader. i took it last year... it has like writing, math, science, and reading. it was hard... and long >.<;;; i didnt get my score yet because i didnt go to school for a very long time cause i was doing homeschooling.

anyways that's not true.......... if you fail the WASL test. it doesnt mean you cant pass high school. _dry.gif starting from the year 2008... that's when they change the law. whoever fails the WASL test, they cant pass high school. right now the law is whoever doesnt pass the WASL test wont go to college, but still can graduate high school.

Finally finished with all of them. Reading and social studies were easy. Math and science not so much. The teachers tried to cram all the prepping in one week. Of course I missed that whole week. Anyways, I'm pretty sure I'll be passing.
