Hello! biggrin.gif Does anyone here know, although I doubt it, how to read and/or write ancient egyptian? Ever since I saw The Mummy I've been fascinated with ancient egypt. _smile.gif

Do you mean heiroglyphics [sp?]? I doubt anyone here can read that. But maybe you can take a course for it. However, I doubt you'll be fluent in one course. Try like, 13.

Heheh, same.

Hmm...in 6th grade they gave us this handout with some sort of hieroglyphs and how the hieroglyphs are pronounced, so when you put them together, they make up a word. I lost the handout though, eek pinch.gif

OHHH same as I James.... I don't know why.... but back in 6th - 7th grade, I went crazy on Ancient Egyptian things....

I used to...I had to write in hierogryphics(sp?) in 6th grade...I forgot how though... pinch.gif
I guess you should google it or go to a library...

We had an acient egypt day before at our school for our class.. When I was in year 3 which made me 7 ohmy.gif

I'm guessing hieroglyphics would be kinda hard to read. blink.gif Since I doubt anyone knows the meaning for each one I spose

whenever i was in world history in like 6th grade, we got a sheet that had all the different heirogliphycs(sp?) and their meanings. it was really hard to decode the stuff because we had to do a ton of homework on it! wacko.gif

ahhh i made a mummified chicken in science last year hahaha

i dunno hieroglyphics, (bleh i spelled it wrong) but i wrote my name in heiroglyphics last year while studying mummies.. and there was a sheet on it with all the letters.... bleh i lost it >_>;

wow, I'm so glad someone made a topic on this _smile.gif
I though I was going through just a phase, but I am obsessed with learning about ancient egypt. I want to learn how to read the symbols. The Mummy and The Mummy Returns are two of my favorite movies.

I worked on an art project a couple years ago, it involved creating an life-size frontal graphic of a sarcophagus. It was fun. That involved some heiroglyphs.
